Can someone please tell me how i could get a pilot to run to an aircraft i need to get a shot of pilots running to their aircraft but not sure how to do this. I can get them to run away easily (bail) and flim them running, but would love a shot of them running up to the aircraft just like they were being scrambled.
can this be done if so how? Watch out for that back door bomber. |

I would think the only way to do this is to bail from an aircraft close by,and keep experimenting until they run in the right direction!

That is what i was thinking but hoping there was a easy way

Uther is right, you have to do it the hard way. I read once years ago that the length of time you hold your eject button down determines the direction the pilot runs from the AC. I've never tested that out, though. You might want to use a bomber to get your shot. Having multiple pilots/crew members running away will increase the likelihood one of them will run the direction you want him to. Good luck.

I did that once upon a time when I made my one and only IL2 movie, the Famed "Scramble". It isn't really hard. Just park an acft near your "target" acft, the one you want to scramble. Bail the pilot of the first. With a little trial and error, you'll be able to place the Bailee's acft just right in terms of ditance and angle so the pilot can be filmed running towards his 'scramble' acft.

Make sure the aircraft is close enough as you don't want the pilot trying to dive though the plane... although that would look interesting.
What you could do, is make this scene in 2 parts. 1) the plane he runs to: film this scene in the direction the pilot will be running from, without the plane or pilot. 2) Next film the same scene again, but with the pilot jumping from an all Blue (plain skin edit) or any other colour that is not in the scene. the pilot in normal clothes. Do colour keying on the plane when superimposing the 2 scenes exactly over each other. Should work Gimme ... GARLIC & BEETROOT. Also don't forget my hospital Hard Tack |
