Hi guys,

I have a track that I made about 4 years ago. I don't know how to convert tracks into videos nor do I have the rig to do it.

I was hoping someone in here might do it for me. It's an interesting track and I was lucky enough that someone recorded it at the time.

If anyone wants to help me please pm me and I'll send the track via email (612kb).

Thanks,
Fritz

You might have a problem with the track version number, as the trk's are not upward compatible.

IOW one will not be able to run the track on IL2 to do any recordings with Fraps..etc.

Any idea on which IL2 version it was recorded ?

Hi Freddie,

not sure but it wasn't the original IL-2. One plane is the Dora while the other is a 109K.

The reason I kept this track is because it was a one shot kill. We were training. I had the 109 and my enemy had the Dora. He went into a steep dive thinking he could get away. Since we were going straight down I figured gravity would have no effect on the trajectory. I fired one round of the Mk108 and about a second later he exploded.

The interesting part is that it was about 1,000m shot.

A friend tried the track just the other day. His IL-2 is up to date. It played fine for him.

Had a look...
This was a track from a 3rd person, so I think the lag factor plays around with the shell and a/c positions. you let off 3 shells, 2 have tracers, and the 3rd is unseen and probably hits.

1st 2 tracer shells coming down..

1 shell fairly far off the mark.

1st shell reaches 'Oleg's limit'

2nd shell, a bit closer, reaches that limit.

The 3rd shell I can only assume was on target..

The last shell also should have been at it's limit, but I think the lag factor makes it look like the Dora is just out of range, whereas from your POV, it was just within the limit...

Dam good shot, anyway...
The movie will look better from your aircraft as , from the dora the shells are wide.

Cool

Hey thanks Freddie.

This is a bit strange. I too have gone over that track a couple times but it played slightly different on mine.

In my game, you can hear two bangs from the gun. Also, you can only see one tracer. This is why I thought it was one bullet and one tracer. When I ran the track in my game there was only one tracer and it was just off the port side, about 2 meters.

This track was made a long time ago. Is it possible there might be some corruption of the file or that it might play differently in a different game version?

I wasn't the only one who went over this with a fine toothed comb. Even with the track, my squad mates didn't believe me. It's not the first time I've done a shot like this. My favorite range has always been 750 to 850m.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, when I lived in China I always had a problem with lag. In fact, an enemy on my 6 could hit me when we were in a tight turn. That doesn't sound strange except that I could see him from the top of my canopy. I could never hit anything up close which is why I developed a long range hit habit. Another habit I developed was waiting for the enemy to turn before firing. So my deflection shots at long distances were good. I could kill the enemy before he got to the fight. Veryhappy

I had suspected this for a long time. Planes could hit me when it was impossible from my view. No one believed me until I ask someone else to make tracks. Their tracks looked perfect but when they saw mine they also said it was impossible.

As probably known lag (ping delay) has the following effects..

As this track was not recorded by you the lag has this effect.
As the lag time increases... the further back (in time) the aircraft is and you move the dora, so from your POV
your 3rd shell did hit the plane.

LAG as in IL2
=============
Your computer sees aircraft in your time.
Others see aircraft in their time.
As there is a Ping Delay from server to all players, the relative aircraft update info is delayed (lag)
So although I might be turning, you'll still see me flying straight for the lag delay time.
Also your hits are recorded on your PC and then sent to the server which updates the other players plane status... ever noticed a delay in your plane damage..

This is why I cannot play seriously on overseas servers as my ping time is min 230mS...
Too much for my 'type' of flying.. Hammer

Freddie,

my ping was always in the 500s and yes I have been kicked for high ping.

Remarkably, while in China, the only server I didn't have a lag problem on was a Dutch server.

Well, there's no point in making any kind of vid from this track since it looks all wrong. Just by looking at those screenies you posted, it's impossible to score the hit.

I think when I do build another rig and start flying again, I will get into the habit of recording everything.

Thanks for your time Freddie. Thumbs Up

I can do a video, but it has to be viewed from your plane, but one doesn't see much as the Dora is 'miles away'... Frown

Thanks Freddie but since it wasn't recorded from my game maybe it wouldn't be worth doing. It's just not the same as what my game "saw".

I'm gonna send you a pm on another topic.
