It depends on the look you want. Usually in the range of 60-80% saturation.
What editing software are you using because that may also have a saturation filter? You can then add in other effects thsat are available and tweak them to your liking. It's sometimes good to pump up the contrast as well, and turn down the brightness. Luminance is something worth playing with too. I used to sharpen movies as well, but that was a mistake IMO. Actualy, sometimes it is good to add a little gaussian blur or softness. Play with all these filters until you get a look that you like for any particular feel. |

There's so many ways to filter your clips. It really gives your movie 'character'. You should play with the adjustments until you are happy. And as Joe mentioned, don't necessarily stop at HSV adjustments...maybe a little blur, some highlight colour corrections, etc etc.
Here's just a few different ways you can make a clip look... it really depends on the look you WANT... Original: Some Different Filtering Examples: MrVH |

We try
The second to bottom... I'll have to check that out at home to reproduce it. I didn't save any of the settings but I'm pretty sure I remember what I basically did. I know I used Trapcode's Shine in there somewhere... I'll let you know.... MrVH |
