You are invited to give a look to the first part of a film I am creating on the Guadalcanal campaign. It illustrates the arrival of the task force.

There is a small change in the link.
Here is the new one

http://files.filefront.com/Gua...78417;/fileinfo.html

I uploaded a version a little bit more compact and deleted the other one. I went from 180 MB to 130MB without too much loss.

I am pretty disappointed by the trailer which is automatically generated by File Front as the screen format makes the whole picture squeezed with the wrong proportions. The file I uploaded was in 1280 X 720 pixels which is pretty standard.

Does anyone know how to avoid to have the image crushed in the trailer.

But you can allways download the file and get the best image.

nice and clear and smooth..

I recommend several mods which give the movie maker more scope........ the camera plane ...the new views around the plane.... the carrier take-off mod for a full deck.......new ships

and don't forget to toggle off the bearing display

Looking good m8. Thumbs Up

If I may venture one observation, the music doesn't fit for me. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful that you didn't go with the usual thrash rock that people seem to add to these videos ad nauseum and wreck them as a consequence, but the soundtrack does not say impending battle to me.

May I suggest the music of Bill Brown, probably best known for games soundtracks such as Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon. He has a lot of other music available for download at his website www.billbrownmusic.com it's good stuff and less well known as a lot of the overused composers such as Hans Zimmer soundtracks Gladiator, Blackhawk Down and Pirates of the Caribbean. I do like Zimmers work but everyones heard it. Being unfamiliar it should be more effective.

I hope I haven't offended, it's just that I find contemporary music to be at odds with the subject matter and can spoil otherwise good videos.

All I can say, on behalf of Team Pacific, is thank you very much for making a movie with our map.

I enjoyed this introduction quite a bit and I am really looking forward to seeing the next installments.

Many thanks for your comments. They are welcome.

ffb I am experimenting with all these mods and sure there are very interesting possibilities.
can you tell me how to toggle the bearing away. It has been an annoyance but I do not know how to do it.

Bo-Nidle I understand your comment and I can assure you no offense, otherwise I would not post the video. I am just starting so a lot to learn yet. And you are right regarding the music that does not give at all the impression of an incoming battle.

But this was the real idea. The japanese did not expect an attack on Guadalcanal at that time. And when the forces landed on Guadalcanal there has been no battle the place was deserted.
This was not the case for Tulagi and Tanambogo.
Thanks for the tips regarding the music I will give a trial.

I suggest reading this book, at least the Guadalcanal bit.

Robert Sherrod
"History of Marine Corps Aviation in WW2"

It has excellent info, Marine Aviation perspective, on landings, sea battles, air battles, aircraft, squadrons, command structure and whos who.
It a priceless for your collection on ww2 and will give you many details hard to find elsewhere. Good luck!

Skunk_438RCAF many thanks for the compliment.
I forgot to credit Team Pacific for their terrific map work.
I am unforgivable because it is a fundamental extraordinary map work for any Guadalcanal enthusiast. Hope they forgive me this time but I will correct that on the next release.

ysydor: It's been several months now since you first appeared on this forum, since you have been spamming this forum!!!

Time's up!

Produce your epic 90 minute movie, of which you have unceasingly boasted ad infinitum... host it somewhere, provide the link to it...

Stop trying to hijack everybody else's threads announcing their own, legitimate, respectable, efforts....their movies which are REAL movies which they have produced, and not merely fantasized about.

I would not want some forum participants to begin to suspect that you might be an irritating childish immature bore on this Movie-maker forum.

I'm not saying that I, personally, believe that to be the case..of course. I'm only interested in protecting you and this Forum from "harm".

Thanks a lot for your "compliments"...i had some problems with the computer that's why i didn't yet posted had you u saw the first part of the movie? to see that i'm not kidding your or tryng to be "a stupid child like you said"
i don't have forum experience so maybe that's why maybe i did some masteks but that not means that you most rispond me like that..you was rude i've said earlyer that i'm sorry posting that photo..but you wanted to make fun of me in front of the others like you all do...bye
