Is it possible to create a map where the surface is flat and blue coloured with no scenery or any objects?
With this kind of special map it would make it easier for me to superimpose IL2 aircraft on real life scenery when making a movie. |

Sounds to me like... the Coral Sea map... all that water... blue... no objects... would that do? Multicontrollered pil2ots in need of tuning sensitivity settings: IL2-Sticks or IL2 Joy Control (By Oleg_BS). To print your Mission Briefing: MissPrint |

I agree, and maybe put the video options at very low and flat, that would make the water flat and featurless , but I don't think you can place objects on the water, not sure, wait, I did run into an airfield tower once on one of my missions, it was mistakenly put out in the ocean, so maybe you can do that. Sounds to me like you would want to do that. The guys over in movie makers forum here would probly know what to do. |

I don't think he wants to place objects on it, I think he just wants to film the ac themselves.

Hi biltongbru,
I'm gonna move this over to the Movie Maker's forum. I think you'll score more advice over there. Good luck Fritz |

lol, busted, biltongbru
M2Morris's idea might work. The options in Chroma key is really quite good even if the background isn't totally flat. Or you could try masking. Blackace did a good tutorial on this over here: http://www.meyeuniverse.com/movboard/index.php?sid=1086...bacf17bc7219b63ecf34 He used this to draw real clouds behind flying aircraft. |

Totally busted
Thanks for the advice. I substantially used the masking and chroma keying in the stuka movie. Also tried the sea to be a blue screen; the problem is the water has surface ripples (cause contrast) that moves and you can not properly screen out a moving background. The ideal is if there could be some map generator to create a map with a nice flat blue surface; Do you know of someone in the UBI forums who could do something like this? keep well |
