The Advisory Board of FSM in a separate round of deliberations covering all submitted movie entries, has decided that Tempest Tank Attack by Biltongbru, though not a finalist in the Competition, will be placed at the FSM website and awarded a Golden Oleg for its very significant technical achievement in Special Effects, specifically in the arena of Chroma-keying and compositing.

Additionally, On Deck and Shadow on the Sun have been placed at the FSM website and awarded Silver Oleg's as superior first movies produced by newcomers to IL2 movie-making.


The 2008 IL2 Flight Sim Movie Competition Judging Panel congratulates the Winners of the Competition, commends the creative efforts by all who submitted entries, and thanks all those community members who voted for their favorites.

Congratulations to Jafa for a classic piece of IL2 moviemaking, and to Snatchio for his very original and highly amusing contribution.

It has been a pleasure watching all the movies submitted and very encouraging to see so much activity in the community after such a long quite spell.

There was a lot of excellent moviemaking taking place for this competition! As well as the winners, I now have a lot more keepers on my hard disk. If any of you want more comments on your entry, just say so in a different thread!

I sincerely hope the activity will carry on, especially with the newcomers to our great hobby

Congratulations to Jafa, Snatchio and eveyone else who entered. There was some great creativity and skill on display in these submissions.

For those who weren't voted by the community into the finals, know that some of the judges voted for films to go to the finals that ultimately didn't make it, for whatever that's worth. And in the final round, the judges were not in perfect sync on the ranking of the top five either, so your film might have received some first place votes (but don't ask for more info than that).

A competition like this is a little like making FH&C was for those who worked on that--it pushes you to do more than you would normally do, which is how you learn new skills and improve. I'm sure we can expect to see even more impressive work from all the participants in the future. Again, congratulations to all involved!
