One of the entries into the Marillion music video contest has been selected and is going to be shown on the big screen (The Main Cinema, the Arts Picturehouse) at the Cambridge Film Festival on 22 Sept at 2pm. The best thing is, ITS MY FILM Smile

The Cambridge Film Festival is the UK's third largest film festival and is 10 days long.

"For almost 30 years, the Festival has been committed to delivering high quality films to the widest possible audience and has firmly established its reputation alongside London and Edinburgh as one of the UK's major film events."

http://www.cambridgefilmfestival.org.uk/

If there is anyone going to the festival, goto the machinima, zero budget, big audience lecture at 2:00 on monday 22nd, that is where the video is to be shown.

A good cheer from the crowd always goes down well at a film festival.

See you there. Party Hat

The film is available for streaming or download and is the version to be shown at the festival from the Moviestorm site.

Not branching out, just discovering how to really create one of the best Flight Sim Films ever to be made, and learning about the tools I need to do it.

So pretty soon I am branching back in again.

I must admit it is hard to find time with festivals and E-Mails from the BBC and high profile rock bands to attend to, also I have a huge following at one of the leading art websites. Too Happy

But sooner or later I will rejoin the clan IL2. bow

Watch this space. Metal

Just got back from the festival.

Absolutely amazing day. Went to Moviestorm office first to meet the staff.

Then headed out to the cinema meet up with Mat Kelland, creative director of Short Fuse.

Then some others turned up. Left to Right, David Bailey (CEO Short Fuse), Saint John Walker, another punter who was having his film shown like me, Matt Kelland.

And then some more people I recognised from Leicester. Left to Right. Jonnie Ingram (Co-Author Machinima for dummies), Hugh Hancok, (Co-Author Machinima for dummies and Bloospell), Ross Bambrey (of Bloodspell fame).

Unlike Leicester, I actually got a lot of time to sit down with a few beers and talk to these guys. Very interesting conversations.

Excellent day out, but of course the best part was seeing the film up on the big screen being played by a 3 million pound projection system to a full room. I could not take photos of that obviously.

Awesome!!!

Looks like a good day out, BA, and worthwhile. You must have felt proud with your creation up there for so many to see.

I see there's yet another article on Moviestorm at the BBC:

Looking forward to see what can be done with Moviestorm and IL2 (or SoW in the future). This may well be the way to go to get our stories told!

Oh it gets even better than that Joe.

After having my entry to the Marillion Contest screened at the Cambridge Film Festival on Monday this week, I met with Bill Thompson, the BBC's technology correspondent.

Bill Board at the BBC (Corny name, but he likes it).

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7617207.stm

I am happy to announce (after discussions), that the BBC want to use a 1 minute clip of the video as part of their WiFi and Podcast trials.

These trials have been running for a short time, the idea is that the BBC will send the clip (Via Podcast and WiFi) to every BBC website registered member free of charge.

The BBC is funding this, so there is no charge to the recipient, and they pay out nothing (So both myself and Marillion get nowt).

The BBC website is one of the largest and most visited websites in the world. Viewing figures could be in the millions.

I am making the 1 minute clip right now and hope to get this wrapped up as soon as possible.

Happy Days.

Woaahh.

Have to share these with you.

Some really nice pictures of the Cambridge festival.

This is the audience coming out of the screening that my Marillion video was shown at.

This is me almost getting in one of the official festival photos (Guy in blue T-Shirt) LOL.

This is Bill at the opening.

All these photos are on the official Cambridge festival image Flickr site. Take a peek.

Almost forgot.

This how hard Bill worked at the Cambridge Festival.

Crashed out over his keyboard, even the expresso was not enough to keep him awake.

Desperate E Mails from Canada made me enter the aniBOOM awards with just 15 minutes to spare.

Hopefully it got in, hope I can count on your vote if it does.

Congratulations on the success with your film, BA. Thumbs Up Now that you have an in with the folks at Moviestorm, hopefully, you can convince them to make some pilot costumes and things that would help out the filmmakers in this community. I think this is, pound for pound, the best machinima community around, and the films people would produce would be great advertisements for them. Best of luck at the aniBOOM.

Now this is what people don't seem to understand.

Moviestorm is not a closed box, they expect and indeed encourage users to modify or add content as they wish.

If we want Uniforms, We can add them, if we want props we can add them.

There is no need to wait and convince anyone. If we want it, we add it ourselves.

Hi Blackace, that's great news.

I'm sorry I don't drop in here as often as I used to, I just seem to be editing continually lately, capture edit, cry, capture, edit, coffee, capture, repeat ad-infinituum and still about 7-months to go for Checkertails!

Anyway, Moviestorm really is a great piece of kit, but at this moment I just cannot devote any time to learning it.

I will however spend a while working through it once this last (and massive) documentary is complete, as it really looks like it opens up a new world to those with imagination.

I have yet to watch the films you have uploaded, but will later on, and afters eeing the feedback I expect great things Wink

Then again, any member of Wingmen Productions carries a Golden Oleg, so quality is a given!

I'll report back once I've watched them, cheers, MP.

BA, how can users add costumes? Using a 3D app of some sort?

Yes.

In Moviestorm there is a development package that opens up when you get a developers licence, once this is open there is an import facitily to allow any range of 3D applications to import straight into Movierstorm.

All we need is someone to make, or provide the 3D models we need.

I wonder who that could be, HHmmmm..Smile
