Wingmen Productions is proud to present Faith Hope and Charity, a machinima film two years in the making. This film, inspired by actual events, tells the story of the defense of the island of Malta during WWII. Malta, part of the British Commonwealth, is actually a small group of islands in the Mediterranean Sea, about half way between Sicily and the northern coast of Africa. On June 12, 1940, the day after Italy declared war on Britain, the Italians began a prolonged campaign of aerial bombardments against Malta. This film highlights the early phase of that conflict as it follows the lives of three RAF pilots: George Burges, John Waters and Timber Woods. These pilots flew Gloster Sea Gladiator biplanes in the heroic defense of the island against more modern Italian fighters and bombers. In all, about six Gladiators were involved in the fighting--some were cannibalized for parts--but only three could ever be scrambled for a single sortie. The legend that arose from that conflict immortalized three of the Gladiators, nicknamed Faith, Hope and Charity. DISCLAIMER It is important to point out that this film is not a documentary. While the story it tells was inspired by actual people and events, we found it necessary to change certain facts for dramatic purposes. Those interested in the full history behind the battle for Malta are invited to read a summary at our Web site under the History tab. (The link to our Web site is at the bottom of this post.) A more complete history can be found at www.wikipedia.org under "Siege of Malta (1940)". We would encourage you to enjoy the movie first, as the histories will give away important elements of the film's story. HISTORY OF THIS PROJECT This film project began on June 16, 2005. A group of about a dozen filmmakers from this forum decided to get together and create a film using their combined skills and resources. Originally, it was going to be a small project, lasting no more than a few months and producing a film around 15 minutes in length. As Murphy's Law would have it, it took two years to complete the project, and the film is more than one hour in length. In all, almost 20 people were involved in the production. A lot could be written about the production process itself, but I'll save that for another post or let the rest of the Wingmen Productions crew tell the story. Suffice it to say a lot of hard work was invested in this. Those interested can read the original thread that started this project here: ORIGINAL THREAD Reportedly, George Lucas once said, "A film is finished when you stop working on it." We could have easily continued to work on FH&C for another six months or more, polishing and tweaking. However, there came a point when we realized we needed to wrap things up and release this. We all have things in the film we would have liked to change or polish up more, but you have to draw a line at some point. Today, June 16, marks the two-year anniversary of when we started this journey, and we felt this would be an appropriate point to call FH&C officially "finished." We are pleased to announce that FH&C will be available shortly on DVD (both NTSC and PAL versions will be available). The DVD will be the best way to enjoy the film for those who want the best in video and sound quality, as well as special features. Here's a look at the DVD cover and the graphic to be used on the DVD itself: FH&C boasts an original musical score, composed especially for this film using state-of-the-art software. The DVD and soundtrack CD are both available for purchase from our Web site. In addition, we have set up a PayPal link for those wishing to make a voluntary contribution to the moviemakers who worked on this for two years. A lot of software and hardware had to be purchased to bring this film to fruition. It is strictly voluntary, but any contributions will be very much appreciated. Feel free to post your thoughts and comments about the film, but if your post contains information that would give away important parts of the story, please type "WARNING -- SPOILERS" or something similar at the start of your post as a courtesy to those who haven't downloaded it yet. For my part, I would just say that it's been an honor to work with the group of guys who put this together. The entire process has been very educational, almost like a mini film school. We hope FH&C inspires other independent filmmakers to push the limits of what machinima (filmmaking using games as graphics engines) can do. A final thank you to all of the sites and site administrators who are and will be hosting this film. A complete list of mirror sites is available at the link below. The film is 633MB, so prepare for a long download. We hope all our efforts amount to an enjoyable film experience for you the viewer. Enjoy the show! DOWNLOAD PAGE This message has been edited. It must have been another host site, Gas. No worries, whoever it was. I think it was kept pretty much under wraps until the official announcement, which was all we wanted.

EXCELLENT movie, well worth the wait. Only thing that stood out as an error to me was the record deck spinning the wrong way.....

It was a test to see who paid attention during the film...you passed. There are a couple little things in there that we're aware of but which mental sanity did not permit addressing. Just about everything you see or hear in the film was done and then redone...and then redone. After that, we couldn't ask people to redo their work again without first taping off all the sharp corners in the room. There are probably a few more bloopers, too, so stop looking so hard. ~~~~~ Learn how to make your own IL-2 movies here: Dart's Filmmaking Tutorial and Machinima Movie Theatre Download the film "Faith, Hope and Charity": DOWNLOAD PAGE Find download links to the best IL-2 films here:Flight Sim Machinima |

You know many great artist's in the past left error in their painting knowing that others would find those .. in a way not wishing to leave a perfect "masterpeice". Faith Hope and Charity is that masterpeice in my eyes, who cares if the record deck goes around the wrong way it looks so good in reverse anyway, any younger viewer may not even know what a record deck is in the first place. Two years in planning and production this movie is a labour of love and what a baby you produced .. every aspect of the project radiates quality from the concept to the final rushes. I had the pleasure of watching parts of the movie before the release date but only last night was I able to relax enough after we had it posted at Gamerztheatre to watch "The Girls" in full. I would like to personaly thank the production team for including Gamerztheatre in the list of hosts to premier "The Girls" F,H and C. I also pass my virtual birthday "dumps" to Russell Joe_90 Boyd. Absolutely superb, just watched it as my Sunday afternoon movie.

Yep, the record player turntable is spinning in the wrong direction. Otherwise, it's a great film and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sound effects are fantastic, Oleg should listen and take notes as these (some obviously from M$ flight sims) are far superior to the synthetic sounds in IL2.

WOW- very enjoyable, worth the wait! A real winner! I liked it all and was very impressed on the quality, editing, effects, sound, storyline, CGI!
I'd heard many a story of people getting work in the industry (or at least, better work) thru such projects- hope this turns a good way for all involved! ~S~! Triad -------------------------- |

I just finished watching what in my opinion is the best IL-2 film ever made. There wasn't one thing about it that I could find fault with. The story is engrossing. The film making is spectacular. The choice of time, color saturation, scene editing all are worthy of Oscars. (c.) The sound is the best I have ever heard. The special effects, well I just wish they were available in the game itself. This film should be shown in theaters.
Without giving anything away, let me say that several times there were tears in my eyes. This without a single live human on the screen. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the film, hoping and praying for the pilots success and safety. How can you not like a film that was made by the very best film makers in the community? Each put their individual stamp on their scenes and still the film was cohesive in it's entirety. A credit to their teamwork and devotion to this film. The bar has been raised yet again in IL-2 film making. It will be difficult to rise above it. If this film does not make Film Of The Year I will be rather surprised. If you have ANY reservations about downloading this film, get rid of them. You are doing yourself a disservice not to watch it. If you really cannot download it get the DVD. I guarantee it will be money well spent. 100 Stars! Well done gentlemen! "King of the Arthur" A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read it in English, thank a veteran. Mission 4 Today the place for all things IL-2/FB/PF/46 |

Joe, GL2, MrVh, BA whoever?
Do you think it would be a good idea to put all the other Forum links together that FH&C has been posted in so we have a "central link point" and can get to read all the responses in the other Forums easily? Maybe add them to the original thread in here, or ask Tooz to consider a sticky? |

You guys brought tears to my eyes. I ordered a copy of IL2 1946 a few days ago and I was waiting eagerly, but now I'm about to eat myself out of frustration!! Oh! The horror! YOU GUYS ROCK!! Online Pilot's Guide "If something's leaking and it ain't you, get out!" Dolph (SimHQ): "What do you think is your strong point as a man and what is your weak one?" Oleg: "Yeah my point as a man is quite strong, thanks for asking." |

Thanks all, many thanks, for the positive comments. And, yes it's good to hear about things that didn't work. We already know most of them, erm, like the record player. Some of these just couldn't be fixed without causing nervous breakdowns. All my work was perfect, of course
