Since nothing was happening on the forums about Shikamaru, I decided to email them.

Why does the exclusive character "Shikamaru" cost 99,999 Microsoft Points? Shouldn't he be free? According to a post on the Naruto forums for Rise of a Ninja, it's been like this since November 19 2008. It would have been nice if a mod, or something posted saying that this problem was at least being looked into.

You will need to contact Microsoft directly for any questions about the Xbox Live service, including content downloads. Microsoft can be reached toll free at 1-800-4MY-XBOX.



Ok, so it's Not a Ubisoft problem according to them. So, Now I figured I'd email Microsoft about the issue, since it's apparently their fault.

I see that your wondering why the character "Shikamaru" cost 99,999 points. Try to download the character see if those points will be deducted from your account. If ever it's deducted please from your account please call phones support to better assist you.

So, there we have it, we need to purchase over $1249.99 worth of Microsoft Points that supposedly will be refunded, but still will be Microsoft Points and not cash, to get what is suppose to be a free character. I don't think that's a viable solution.... So I decided to send out a reply to that email:

I've tried downloading the character, but it always says I need more points. I don't have 99,999 points, and I doubt many people do as that would cost over $1,249.99 Is there a chance that some one could fix the issue without me having to spend over a $1,250 to get what is suppose to be a free character?


Their Response:
Haven't Received it yet, as I sent out the reply minutes before writing this post. I will update this thread with it when I receive it.


So, as of right now, I'm not expecting this to be fixed anytime soon, or ever.


As a side note, their emails have been prompt, its just I don't regularly check/write emails, so there is a large time gap between when I wrote to Microsoft, and when I wrote to Ubisoft.

i'll post what i've got from Ubisoft so far. In fairness, i got BB today, and am pretty much done with ROAN so I'm not dying to get the character, but i realise that people are so I'll keep trying.

The "free" character that you are forced to sign up to ubisoft for, Shikamaru, is no longer listed as free and is instead listed as costing 99999MSP. Please fix this.

Where from is it you trying to download Shikamaru ?

This is a known issue and unfortunately i don't have any updates of it yet...

I will pass your problem to another department to give them a push, and hopefully we can get a update about it asap...

I am trying to download him from the "Exclusive Content" page from the main menu in-game. I log in to my ubisoft account and the downloadable content page pops up, listing Shikamaru as 99,999msp instead of free.

Have you contacted Xbox live for there in put... It is from there server the download is from...

Yes I did contact Microsoft about the issue and they told me to contact you!

Whilst I realise that the information is stored on their servers, this is an issue with an Ubisoft game and I assumed that ubisoft themselves would be able to either sort it out or get microsoft to update their wrong information in the marketplace.

Well; Currect me if I am wrong, but Shikamaru is now free. I dunno if this was just a mistake with Ubisoft, or if maybe you have to do somthing big, like complete the game. This might just be me, but it was free once I comleted the story line, though I am not saying that's the asnwer... Could just be me. lol.
