I'm noticing a few folks selecting the Defiant in the solo dogfights. I seem to remember from the offline game that the Defiant can lock on and destroy planes as it passes, kind of defeating the dogfight part of the 'solo dogfight'. Anyone else seen this and think the community should self regulate? Or should I chalk this up to all's fair in online war?

Also, which setup allows the plane to achieve the best turns? Is sixaxis better? Arcade vs simulator?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I am there with you I think that the Definat is a "week" choice and needs little to no skill to RACK up the kills in a dogfight match. I have learned how to battle them and if I know where they are rarely do I get shot down by them. But that makes you keep an eye out for them the whole match. It is a part of the game and a few of my friends use it... Either I stay away from them or they are my #1 target because they will shoot you down and not even mean it... If you select just the Axis planes in a match it eliminates the choice of the Defiant. One way to remove it...

To beat the Defiant stay out from its 6o'cloch high. Stay under them and come up on it or any crossing pattern. head on works but you will take damage also. The plane really doenst take much to shoot down. If you have a mic keep in contact with all the others that do have mics and work together may be they will get sick of being ganged up on and change planes...

The other part of your question... Sim turns tighter and has better rudder controll over arcade. As for the six axis player4574 swears by it and he is definately one of the best... Or was until he bailed on us and is now playing COD4... lol Plane selection makes a world of difference in turning also... Hope that helps a bit...

Thanks Otto, good suggestions with the Defiant. I figured I could select the axis planes, but really enjoy the allied Buffalo. I tried setting a game with no lock available, but that didn't seem to slow the Defiant. I usually end up doing what you do -- just avoid it and try to sneak up from below.

I'm still going back and forth between the sixaxis or regular controller on simulator, but from time to time against a player with the same plane, I can't quit out-turn them and spend 10 minutes avoiding them on my tail.

On other question for you. Any suggestions for quickly killing a target with guns (not rockets)? I can usually get in behind and eventually get my target, but lose too many targets to another player after I've got my target's strength down, but not quite dead. I've tried to lead the target, use short bursts to improve accuracy vs leaving the guns blazing, closer range, etc. I just need to get a bit more accurate so quicker kills

Well I got frustrated and left a match the other day due to two Defiants... lol So I guess that is always another option... I dont recomend it tho... I hate to leave a game but better than a controller in pieces,,, lol I useually like to "Headhunt" them and make them run away, but that day I was a bit cranky... no sleep I guess... lol

Any WHoooo

If you like the Buffalo try thr Rayden it has more powerfull cannons and that should help you with both problems (the Defiant and not being able to finish). You can eliminate the allied planes and still use a good turning plane. I know I LOVE to use the USA planes too but the game really doesnt do them justice. Not to mention all the no shows of the USA planes... If you stay in the Buffalo a helpfull pick up is the double damage icon... Know your maps and that can be a great advantage...

Other than that "Vulturing" (the act of taking ones kills... PERFECTED BY KFAM and xtimetoplay.. ALL THE LOVE BROS...) is just part of the game... Learn to target QUICK... all weapons have their own unique stratigy just learn and use the plane to its fullest potential...

GOOD LUCK

In the middle era the HE-219 (I think) has a tail gunner.... NOW be fully warned if you are in a plane with a tail gunner I will hunt you relentlessly just ask Used_HATE... I think that the tail gunner is a sad no skill way to get kills....

Just my opinion...

Oh and so you know I am not the only player that feels the same way... I was in a match with Used_HATE and there were 5 or 6 others we all quit shooting each other and hunted him relentlessly... When he got into some other plane I would lay off him until he would shoot at me then I would return that favor but I would not hunt him...

It is just a pet peeve of mine. I like the dog fighting and thrive on my ability to out turn my opponents. Again I am not alone in my thinking.

I have no problem with the player (Used_HATE) and will not hold a grudge but if I see a tail gunner in the game I will hunt them... like I said when they get into a different plane I will leave them alone... I know its just a game but it stresses all the other players out to be in a good match with someone and another plane just flies by and shoots everyone with the tail gunner... Kind of reminds me of the self-guided missiles... Hate them too... You will not see me in a late model match very often just because of that...

It's the Bf-110.... but don't let it get your blood pressure up... At least the folks who use those planes give me something to do...

Oh that came across wrong then... I was ever so much enjoying that also...

Like you said KFAM keeps you busy and well it was kind of fun using that HVC on the BF 109... lol I see why Stickyhacker10 likes it so much... lol

I guess it was just a warning that if at least you or I arn in a match and there is one they will have no rest... lol

Keep Cool KFAM...

There seems to be a new breed of HVC users and Tail Gunners comming into the game. Now some of these players are getting really good with the tail gunner... They are making the game challenging again. One of the said tail gunners is very good at it and actually has closed the gap on my kill ratio....

GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

I will get better no worries... they will go down in flames.... lol

i still think it is a SAD way to take a victory.

I do believe that the tail gunners kills DO NOT count in the dogfight leader board... HOWEVER they do count in over all kills and will give you a game win.... I wish that the online scoring was a bit more clear... How to be more effective and what gets you points on the leader boards...
