I know that the game has been out for well over a year but i was wondering if UBI has any further patches or changes for the game in mind down the road? Will the encyclopedia be finished on the website? Just curious and I apologize if this has been asked before and I missed it.

Please do not be apologetic!! This is a question we have all wondered about. There have been unconfirmed rumors about future "Add-Ons", ....and the fact that UBI intends to issue a "Gold Edition" version of SH4 certainly seems to indicate that they are not done extracting money from this particular venue. I have few ideas on what I really 1. It would be nice to have the built-in options to setup better/more realistic environments in some aspects i.e. very rough sea or high tides during heavy storm, heavy fogs, clouds, sky, heavy lightning etc. like the MODS or ROWs that have been maintained by forum's community so far. Once the options are locked in then it can be tested to show how the effects will look like. 2. Improvement of 3D graphics on air fighters i.e. cockpit, smooth round edge etc. 3. Make this game like a screen saver if we don't play it. The idea is switching to the mainland and see very high graphic details of yesteryear environments like * busy bars with musics that we can pick from the jukebox (or basically from the CD drive or MP3 file formats)(love to hear the jazz musics); * busy harbours packed with battle ships and subs (perhaps showing battle damaged ships coming into the harbour ?); * dawn/dusk sceneries in any environments; * busy streets showing more realistic greenies, buildings and people with 24 hours lighting effects; * busy hangar/air strip with various air fighters taking off, landing, repaired, loading ammos etc; * various submarines/ships repair docks with people busy doing their jobs including to load torps or ammos; * AI showing the detail/parts of different type of subs/ships. Basically showing the schematic map that can be viewed close up with high graphic details; * all of the above can be viewed from different camera angles. 4. If the Ubisoft Developers can't pull those off, maybe the GWX Team can once they begin working on SH4.

You can do this now. Just click the "save as replay" box when you save your game. |

@ pacific_breeze, I think that only becomes availible if you surface after an action, i.e. an attack. That is the only way I have seen it. @klcarroll, I thank you for your response. I have never met a friendlier bunch on the forums as I have here I must say, I'm used to rather rude responses to such questions. Perhaps a sticky thread might be in order if possible on the subject of add-ons and such or would they take such ideas of the Mods and Tips thread? Just an idear. |

It would be nice to have an atlantic option for the american subs to prowl off the french coast and what not.
Also, I'd like to see Narwal subs added, with the possibility of realistic scenarios like taking commandos to Makin atoll, supplying coast watchers and rescuing survivors from allied ships. The addition of commanding an ASW unit would be nice as well. |

I'd like to see snorkels added to the game.. I mean come on, the uboat addon speaks of one, yet there isn't one.

Oh I hope they aren't done with SH yet. As I'm not that knowledgeable on what should be added from a historical standpoint, my thinking turns to the engine/FX/immersion.
- I'd love to see a development with high-end systems in mind; a sort of uber-graphical setting that takes maximum advantage of the new cards. I would say DX10, but until Vista is ironed out properly, I guess that one will be a blind shot. - Even more emphasis on immersion. High quality sound effects and feedback options, the ability to explore your boat fully, to interact with the crew. Realistic management of down time and/or tension, running of battle drills etc. - Enhanced crew management options/abilities. - Random event generator to simulate maintenance issues, crew problems, missions from HQ, dangerous weather conditions etc. - Release of a comprehensive SDK for modders, including model design tools and a capacity for plugins (like Morrowind and Oblivion). - Genuinely viable online play, provision for clan support and role play elements. I would like more of those quick missions, or historic storylines for a few actual subs where you go on notable missions and see how your skills stack up against the real results of the particular sub. I like the game so basicly anything officially offered I'd be interested in seeing.

Dive plain control would be great, not sure how granular ballasts would work out.
I would like to see more tools on the maps made avilible, such as putting notes on marks, tools on the attack map to use, maybe a note pad to type in log entries of my own, that sort of thing. ***Edited*** Also some indication of who qualifies for medels after a patrol rather then doing your best to guess correctly. The independent motor control for emergency rudderless steering, or harder emergency turns would be great. Running out of keys though. Would need to have a key combo for it (numbers for both as it is now, shift and a number for just starboard, alt and a number for just port), or just graphical interface.
For that matter, having four seperate engines actually modeled would be too. Granted neither would probably be used that much to make it worth it for the designers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 'round here, she's always on my mind. |

and a manual override to use electrics on the surface. I don't know why I couldn't use my desil engines when only 2 were destroyed (it shows 4 on the damage screen, I don't know why since my sub has 2 screws, thus I should have only 2 engines..but at any rate both port were destroyed but I couldn't run on the stbd?)
Thought the devs will just tell me to stop harassing the H6K's.... |
