With the U-Boat Missions expansion just around the corner, we wanted everyone to get excited! So the dev team has done a great job and created an extra mission for Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific!

We're working with Fileplanet, and you can download it here . Check it out!

quote:
It’s August 1943. The war in the Solomons has been raging for a year already, and the only thing keeping the Japanese in the fight is their stubbornness and the Tokyo Express.

Since the Cactus Air Force took form on Guadalcanal, delivering supplies in the area by normal methods has become too costly. Our aircraft would catch up with their cargoes sooner or later and send them to join the fleet in the Ironbottom Sound.

The solution envisioned by the Japanese is to load troops and luggage on fast warships that can make the whole run before we even dream about it. They have been relatively successful at that, but it’s time the Silent Service has a shot at them.

Fast warships are tricky to intercept, so use your radar and high-speed surface runs to get into position. You’ll have – at best – one opportunity to engage, when the enemy is carefully negotiating shallow waters. Don’t waste it!

I was wondering why nobody had replied here, I thought maybe there was some sort of protocol for official announcements.

Anyway, I join with Capt. Frank - thanks to everyone involved! I'm going to give it a try in the next hour or two bow

Just tried it! Got sunk because I left the time compression running for too long! Crying I noticed that the destroyers were very agressive and that they spot my conning tower (for some reasons unknown as my periscope was not deployed) through the "wavy" sea. Due to the time compression, I was rammed to death: they liked every minutes of it, their perky pinging laughing it up!

The most important question though: is there going to be at least another such (developer-made) quick mission available as a downloadable content?
If I may, we should be allowed to do a vote for it to choose which one (from a pre-determined selection)! I think that it would trigger a lot of attention. I already have a great idea in mind (and many others)!

Could you use something besides fileplanet?

The patches are available on sites you don't have to register for.

I have an account with FilePlanet and I get this message:

Didn't do as they suggested; instead, I clicked the Big Green FilePlanet Button again and got the proper download page.

Demand veal marsala with garlic buttered noodles in the officer's mess!

Have you read your Fleet Boat Manual yet?

I didn't have an account with them so I created one lickity split. No problem.

But I agree, maybe this should be available on UBI's main SHIV page?

That sentence alone, tells me this is a really hard mission, anything other then a night surface attack is probably suicidal. Of course by shallow waters, im thinking 160 feet or less.

Actually, this part is not quite true because I intercepted them roughly between 15~20 n_miles W-N-W off the tiny islands. Of course, that was before I got rammed! So I was not in shallow water and I even had the time to wait for them for one full hour (again, before I got rammed to death!). A pity! Blink

I got my copy Here

No signing in, just download it. I had to restart my computer before the mission would show up.

Thanks devs for your work on the SH series. Its mods and expansions that keep this title alive (regardless of individual like or dislike for the mod or expansion in question)and these mods, missions, expansions etc have successfuly kept Silent Hunter alive since its advent over 13 years ago.

Silent Hunter has to be one of the longest running PC game titles in PC history, keep up the great work Thumbs Up

Whats next?...Silent Hunter 5 !...hmm...who knows...anyone for plush Nuclear Subs or maybe even cranky old iron coffin WWI subs and a mission giving players a bash at sinking the Lusitania !

Cool, Yooper! Thanks for the mirror Smile

D/L'ing now.

Also thanks to the Dev and Project Management teams for keeping SH4 afloat so long as it has to come this far. Eye candy isn't everything but it's certainly nice to have, and adds (for me) to the immersion factor.

Cheers

Triad

Thanks for the alternate link, Yooper. For some reason I could not login at fileplanet even though I already have an account with them. Will try the mission later. Thumbs Up
