The 1.4 compatible version of the latest Real Fleet Boat Get it from Filefront at http://hosted.filefront.com/RealFleetBoat/ Alternate download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=375A4G03 New version numbering RFB releases will now be RFB 1.4 and the release date, or RFB 1.5 and the release date Date is in the MM.DD.YY format This release is Real Fleet Boat 1.4 03.10.08 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you read nothing else, PLEASE READ THIS SECTION!! **** This is not compatible with the U-Boat add-on**** The 1.5 release will be worked on now that the 1.4 release is done. This is compatible with stock, ROW, Pacific environment, and W_clears environment mod. No reason to download separate versions. Installation notes: When you extract this, 2 folders will appear in JSGME, The RFB mod and an RFB zones folder. Activate AFTER the older ROW files or you will lose the changes to the boats. Compatible with Natural Sinking Mechanics for 1.4- ACTIVATE AFTER NSM Needed changes in files are included in RFB, so it can overwrite NSM files without corrupting NSM. If you don't use NSM or ROW/PE, you will need to activate the RFB zones file folder! Activate Run Silent Run Deep AFTER Real Fleet Boat. So the install order is ROW NSM RFB RSRD Some of the Key commands have changed from stock- Download the RFB key command changes file to see the changes. We are working on a keyboard layout you can download and print out. There is a black bar on the right side of the crew management screen. This was a side effect of getting all of the crew members to appear on the screen for boats with increased complement. We're trying to find a way to correct this. Post any issues in the RFB for ROW and Stock (Patch 1.4) at http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=125529 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: Go to the RFB for ROW and Stock thread for a complete list of changes from 1.0 through 1.4 Included in this release. LOL
He didnt mean anything bad Dave. The modders on the pacific game are pretty much working together. We're working on different mods, true, but our one universal goal is to improve the pacific theater and Fleet boats. There is no competition or rivalry here. Everyone thinks the end user should have a choice of what mod they want to run, and were all generally in agreement to what our targeted audience is. My target is realism with some gameplay adjustments, and generally make a harder sim out of it. RFB targets the 100% accurate in all things department (aka the "rivet counting crowd",) at least, last i looked into it. Both of us agree that "harder" isnt neccessarily "realistic", although i pursue what i feel is realistic by making some thing harder All is well, and RFB should probably have their own stick thread like TM. For me, burnout is always one step away. |

Naah, I didn't say it's easy, it's just not as nitty gritty as some of the features of RFB (like the RFB torpedo mod). If it was easy, there wouldn't be a need for TMOWTW. dgrayson, although this was tongue in cheek, it's actually meant as a compliment. We've had people ask to put some of the features pulled for reality sake back into RFB. In all seriousness, I usually suggest they try TMO because of the balance between reality and play. Never had anyone tell me it was a bad suggestion that thought RFB was too much. In fact a couple of people dropped me a note thanking me for sending them to TM. If it wasn't such a good mod, AOTD wouldn't be using it as the base for their mod they're working on. Ducimus knows I have nothing but respect for his work. |

I think i offered you the sim file i was using for torpedo mods at some point. Or maybe it was lukeFF, i dont remember, but i offered them to someone. The malfunction features are ALOT more robust then stock. Take a look at the file, you might like it. The POTENTIAL of some really indepth torpedo malfunctions and performance is there, i just didnt tweak it past a certain point. Hmm, then again, with S3d 0.6, you probably made your own file just like it if not better. This sim file was more of a "awesome" bit of data before S3D became more advanced. At any rate, if i get "rivet counters" knocking on my door, i give em RFB's buisness card. edit: Mods, sticky ? TM has a stickly post. RFB should too, its only fair. For me, burnout is always one step away. |

Luke took CCIP's torpedo mod for RFB and yours and used them as a reference. He added some more research and turned in a file that upped everything a couple more notches on the reality scale.
It's one of the reasons we joked in the RFB thread you might have a masochistic streak if you enjoy playing RFB prior to 1943. |

I admit, i can't handle the "hardcore torpedo mod". Yes i like my duds, i hate perfect torpedos.. but that one would drive me nuts. I do have my masochistic streak though..... just with depth charges as opposed to duds. If im not getting my virtual teeth rattled out of my skull.... im not happy!
For me, burnout is always one step away. |

Thanks for supplying the link for RFB1.4, sw. If I ever can get my computer to play SHIV again without the nuddmkm.sys crashing the game I will give it a try.

I've updated the RFB link in the 'Tips, Mods, Tools, etc' sticky to link to this thread.

I thought the same thing Duci. I used Lukes test mod of the realistic torps. I set out in 41 and I think 6 worked out of the whole lot. I was like what the..... I thought back to the numerous patrol reports and books I read. This is about how it was. So, for me, shooting for realism. I sailed off again with the disfunctional torpedoes. |
