OK I have opened Submarine school on the first mission an am told to reach marked zone. I can see it on the chart, but where am I? I have no idea, am I in Pearl or at sea somewhere?

Look for a small black circle with a small line in it. Thats your sub. Try all command buttons you see on the navigation map command bar and It will all clear up quickly. Then you can get to where you need to be. Have patience

Thank you, thats fine, now I can't turn on the radar, I press F9 to bring it up, then press the on/off switch but it will not move to the on position, what ami doing wrong?

Radar didn't become available till further into the war, so in effect you have to 'wait' for it to become available.

Yup... I think the radar works in the Convoy attack training mission if you want to try it out. Someone correct me if Im wrong. In career mode you have to wait until 43 before it becomes available. Or possibly late 42...I cant remember.

A quick way to find your boat is to put your cursor in the center of your screen, then hold down Ctrl and left click on your mouse.

I just started this today and had the same problem!
Looks like it`s going to be a long night...

londonchris: Get use to it as this game can lead to many long nights.

Just keep playing around with the verious tools and buttons, pretty soon you will start to get the hang of it.
