Mare Is will always have a place in my heart too. My dad was stationed there when I was born back in 82.

Used to be a Japanese Midget Sub on display there. I watched the Kamehameha launch when I was eleven. Real cool stuff for a kid. I even remember seeing the reserve fleet boats all docked there that you can find some photos of at navsource.org.

Dad spent the last few years of his career stationed up in New London in the late 80's. Whenever he was in port, he would take my brother and myself to the USS Nautilus. Never did use the handset they hand out for the tour. Kinda pointless considering we had Dad to give us the tour. Nautilus was his ride to Mare Is. His first cruise was her last.

I'd like to claim USS Sand Lance (SS-381) please. My grandfather was a plank owner and I have the presidential unit citation from her first patrol.

These are the submarines in your neighborhood! Visit and support them.

I would like to take charge of the S-class "USS S-32 (SS-137)"
I just adore the Mark X Torpedoes and no-fancy submarines.

Seeing as I was born and grew up in Manitowoc I would like to adopt the USS Rasher (SS-269). A Gato class built in Manitowoc, WI. It ranked #2 for both Single Patrol Tonnage (52,600) and Total Career Tonnage (99,901). Also was awarded 4 Presidential Citation during its career of either 8 or 9 patrols. Clap Clap

Sometimes I lie awake at night and ask, "Where have I gone wrong?"
and a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night!"
