I know the Avatar is gonna be shown on the cinema on Dcember 2009 ,But i still haven't seen it's trailer .... im so curiosy about thismovie ..after all ,it's the 1st movie James Cameron derected after Titanic ...how about u ?
I think the words James Cameron are enough to get us all excited! especially since he revolutionized cinema at least twice, and since we havent seen a movie from him in over a decade!
Well, I don't know about most anticipated. That would probably go to Fellowship of the Ring, and then every LOTR movie after.
Actually, the anticipation for Avatar has me about equal with both LOTR and Star Wars: TPM. This isn't meant to belittle it in any way. That is HUGE props, by my standards. I just hope that it satisfies more like LOTR than leaves me wondering where it went wrong, like the SW prequels. I think that its all about storytelling from the heart, and the coolness will follow. It has to be natural and not forced. (pun not intended, but is very applicable)
I have a question: What is it that draws you to Avatar specifically? I know it could be any number of things that the movie has going for it, but I'm curious to know which aspect entices you all the most.
Is it Cameron's involvement, based on his considerable film-making pedigree? Is it the pull of the sci-fi genre in general? Is it a particular element of the concept for the film?

Well currently, as you state, it is a number of things. To get the low hanging fruit out of the way, the 3D Pace technology, the new millennium FX, a journeyman sci-fi director at the helm, and the prospect of an entire fictional universe that will expand over the years.
But the singular draw that initially struck my interest is reading the scriptment.
It's sci-fi literature reminiscent to the hey day of SF writing of the 60's/70's decades. The premise has a touch of Robert A. Heinlen (think Stranger in a Strange Land and especially Double Star), the scientific savvy of Arthur C. Clarke (I see a lot of inspiration of Avatar in Clarke's The City of the Stars), and the epic action/adventure of Isaac Asimov (pertaining to his Foundation series, that is).
Yeah, it has to do with a combination of not seeing a rich sci-fi experience in a long time, (save maybe the surprise that was Trek) and not seeing a film from Cameron in so long. He has a way of pulling you into the story with his characters that I love to watch. I loved the Abyss because of the deep, yet archetypal characters mixed with the sci-fi element. If a movie has no heart and soul, then the FX don't really matter to me. That stuff fades away eventually. The guy has both sides of his brain at full capacity. I have always looked up to that kind of storyteller.
Also, since he has claimed that he believes in this 3D revolution, I think I owe it to him to really give it a chance. He has given me some wonderful movie-going experiences, after all. So far I have seen U2, Coraline, and UP in 3D, and all of them were a good experience, but I keep hearing that this movie will be a very different kind of 3D experience. Personally, I don't really see how this is possible, but it has me very curious. Being an LOTR fan, I can't really wait to see how WETA outdoes themselves again. I'm very glad that they are attached with Cameron's project.
