What usually happens when a new R6 game is announced?

The Community Developers come in and answer a few simple questions and ignore or don't make it a priority to answer the critical questions from longtime fans of the original franchise.

Let's make that more difficult for them by having a list of important questions ready so they see more than just "Will it have gun XYZ?" or "Can I play with my x-box controller on PC?".

After someone pastes the list of questions into a new R6 announcement thread we need everyone else that reads it and agrees to post a request for them to answer the questions from that post or that forum member.

It does no good if UBI sees only one person ask important questions if other's do not post support that you also would like those quesitons answered.


Here is a start:

1) Will it have stand alone dedicated server support (SADS) that can be run on a server farm without a CD Key?

2) Will it have a map editor?

3) Will it have an SDK?

4) Will there be a demo?

5) Will it have Punkbuster support?

6) Will it have a hardcore mode to make the game as strategic and realistic as the first 3 Rainbow Six games?

7) Will you be able to play without health regen and instead have gimping (arm hits affect aim, leg hits affect movement, torso hits affect both)?

8) Will you be able to set the server so nobody can use a 3rd person cover view?

9) Will you be able to lean and go prone and possibly have fluid stance like Ravenshield had?

10) Will you be able to get 1s1k (one shot one kill) with high powered close shots and head shots?

11) Will team uniform colors match so players don't have coins over their heads? (Enemy players should never have names or anything else floating over their heads and teammate names should be optional).

12) Will players be able to choose armor that affects their speed and damage they take (one thing Vegas did right).

13) Will it have objectives that cater to a no-respawn style game?

14) Will grenade thowing be realistic and not immediately thrown while your gun is still ready to fire?

15) What is the list of real world guns and gadgets that will be in the game?

16) Will you be able to fluidly open and close doors (partially and quietly or swung full open but makes more noise) like you could do in Ravenshield?

17) Will the HUD be able to be customized to remove clutter?

18) Will objectives be fair to both teams so that every round or half way through the match the team's switch sides?


There you go...that's a start at least...feel free to copy and paste this list into any thread announcing a new R6. Don't even give me credit since I compiled this list over the years from user feedback of Ravenshield, Lockdown, Vegas 1, and Vegas 2.

EDIT - I didn't include single player or coop questions but some else can start a new list for that. I know people don't want terrorists randomly spawning where they couldn't possible be and don't want linear forced gameplay and would like the planning phase back.

Your questions are slanted to your own opinions. I like the coins over the head, it makes it so much easier to recognize then colored camo would be. As we all know though, you come around a corner and accidentally shoot your team made because the glowing coin is not in your field of view. It's above your field of view. I'd rather have their bodies glowing green. But maybe that would detract to much from their look.

I'm not bagging your post, I do think the creators should answer questions, I just think the list should not be biased or directed towards a particular view.

Your telling me you'd never shoot or frag a teammate without the coin? I think team kills would be 1/2 if not more w/o the coin. It's impossible to memorize everyone on your team when people are leaving the game and entering. The coin was a good idea and I don't like to have to wear team camoflauge. It ruins my fashion sense :P

How about user options to satisfy both sides??!!
Maybe remove coins in the hardcore mode!!

Problem is .. Ubisoft isn't going to listen anyway.
If they do produce another R6 game .. they will do what they want with it!!

Those list are good...But yeah there are two sides... most of it should have an on/off option that the admin hosting the game should be able to apply. Rather than just completing taking out a feature that some enjoy. I do like the cover system and I do like the coin over the head, Regen is fine with me as well and not to mention our servers are run on unlimited respawns, unlimited point system and random respawns. So to take out the features that people use doesnt really make sense. But an on/off feature so that host can tweak to their liking is a better idea. I'm all for that.

That's obviously true. But even when Ubisoft is just acting as a publisher, they enforce strict guidelines on the contracted developers about what they expect from the game, they interfere frequently so as to make sure the developers give them exactly what they want, and they put incredible pressure on the developers in the form of very tight cost/time constraints that are almost impossible to sustain, as well as allow extremely limited support after release.

As a publisher, Ubisoft does not manage the contracted development team very differently from its own development teams. They always put unbearable constraints on the developer, with awful results on the final quality of the game.

The conclusion is that the UBI logo is simply a no go.

Speaking on a personal note I’ve always felt in a tactical game there shouldn’t be any need for labels on team mates as all team members should through good comms know where there team are. Of course that is just my personal view and I think Lethal raises an excellent point that aspects of any game such as this would perhaps be best as a user end option, with serverside restrictions etc so all can play the way they like.

The old coin debate rages on. Personaly I would like to see the coin vanish. I would like to relate a little story of why. I was playing the Theater Map one day and worked my way into the left side of the stage killing the machine gun nest tangos. I moved back out the door under fire and was peeking around the corner. Across the other side of the stage was one of my team mates shooting at me. I would peek out and he would fire. Turns out there is a green sign hanging on the wall that if a tango is under it appears he has a green coin. Luckily he was a **** poor shot and I dusted him. Just thought I would pass this useless imfo on.

Now that UBI has gone so far off track from the original 3 games, I guess that the only thing to do now is have everything be server side options in order to satisfy old school strategic fans as well as the new respawn, aim assist, health regen gamers.

There is a certain lack of realism I would tolerate to help with the situational awareness a real person would have in knowing where their teammates were. Names over friendly heads and/or a small radar (that can be toggles off or forced off server-side) that shows just the friendly locations would be fine.

Why, after being ignored by UBI when they made Lockdown, Vegas, and Vegas 2 am I still making lists of what my clan wants in an R6 game?

It's simply because I never want the Devs to be able to come in here and say we never stated what we wanted to see in the next R6 game.
