Hey Guys and Gals,
Since this thread is all about desiring a two way communication between Ubisoft and its customers I saw an article on IGN that had a real example of a software company that is experiencing difficult times (Flagship Studios), but is keeping it customers in the loop by letting them know they care and will keep them posted. Here is the post from Zack Karlsson, Namco Bandai's Senior Director of Business (Flagship's publisher). "Hello Hellgaters, I know everyone is looking for an announcement, and we'd love to make one -- but right now, many things are in flux and we don't have all the information yet. As soon as we do, we'll post here on the forums, on the website, and anywhere else we can find you. In the short term, please do not worry. The game is up, the servers are not going away in the short term and any major changes to status will be communicated in advance. I'd like to ask for your patience as we try to figure it all out and chart a new course. We value your community, your commitment, and your passion for Hellgate and we will make sure that any solution that we architect will support all of you as best as we are able. Thanks again. We hope to have a real announcement shortly." Now Ubisoft is that so hard to do? The director of business for Namco Bandi (someone in charge of making decision) comes to the Hellgate forums To reassure the company's commitment to the consumer that the game will not be abandoned so easily and more info will be coming soon as key decisions are made by people who will make them. You see this is not impossible or hard you just have to care. This is something that quality software developers do. Not hide behind a desk and an executive ladder of authority. I wonder how much time it actually took to make the post? Maybe 5-15 minuets? How hard could it be? For the full article click see the link. http://pc.ign.com/articles/893/893064p1.html |

Hmmm, thier case may be different but I would care less if the Owner of UBI came here and posted that... I think I would be even more upset than what I was prior of that statement.
What I would like is some specifics of what's going on behind the scenes, that's all... I really don't care how much money the CEO makes or if the janitor makes 40 bucks an hour but the Devs only minimum wage. |

I hear you Snipe. I'm not saying that the situations are the same, simply that someone else other than a forum mod took the time to visit the forums and post about an important issue regarding the future of a PC game. I'd love to know what the devs are working on right now too. The above is simply an example that real communication can take place between the consumer and and the higher ups of a software company and it shouldn't be that hard. So . . in like kind if one of the devs came here and posted once and a while this thread wouldn't exist or at least it wouldn't be so long. That's all I'm pointing out.

I don't care if the news comes directly from Ubiosft, or someone in charge of the forums.
The news could be passed down to Ubi.LevelUp like the Exciting News announcement was in June. We are just way past due for some sort of announcement as to what Ubisoft's intentions are with Vegas 2!! Fix it .. Or scrap it?? It can't be that hard for someone at the top of Ubisoft to do!! |

Does someone know what is the current status of the sales of this game? Could it be that Ubisoft has completely dropped support to that game but doesn't want to inform people about it in order to not compromise future projected sales no matter how small they are? Would keeping people in the dark about the cancellation of any future support to this game be the best ''business'' decision for the most short-sighted shareholders? Ahhh, so many questions, so little hope to get any answer... |

No, actually you've hit the nail square on the head.
UBI's resounding silence should be enough of an answer for us to figure out that Vegas is scrapped aside from a couple of patches that may or may not fix a couple of minor things. IMHO I think it's the best decision they could make. Let's just hope they cut their losses and bring the gamers what we have been begging for 3 years. A true sequel to RvS and Rouge Spear with ALL of the popular features from both games....and for Christ's sake, beta test the damn thing this time. |

|
That's funny...this silence sounds exactly like the silence we heard when they wouldn't confirm dropping support for the dud known as Lockdown...you can look back at old Vegas posts and at least see examples of them claiming they were working on a fix even if they wouldn't give a time frame. Hmmm... bye bye Vegas 2... I actually was on the verge of buying it until the patch failed to work...

While I do not play this particular game, I do have to commend the person who posted in their forums about what was happening. I do not care if the Ubi CEO comes here to tell us that they are fixing Vegas2, but I do want to know what his plans are for his company to try and win fans back after releasing such trash (and not just this game). I also want to know what his plans are to keep customers happy. That is what that other company's director of business was doing. He was communicating to his customers and that is what we are wanting from Ubi management. "Do not build your community around a game.... This thread is running already from May 8 2008. It is 37 pages long, had already 24844 views. I'm sorry ms-kleaneasy but how long are you gonna feed us that same BS answer? Also tired of the non communication? Visit UBI-to-consumer Bidirectional communication and let yourself be heard! |

Probably as long as that answer is the truth. UBI won't tell her anything so all she can do is keep asking. I know UBI thinks that at some point of their choosing they can just strut back in here and give a little one line apology for taking so long and thank us for our patience. That doesn't cut it though because if they really were sorry they would give us the respect of communication now. They need to have the guts to come on here and tell us they are dropping support... |

but it begs the question, was is a person with Integrity and Pride still doing working for such a Company?
If you were up to your nose in contempt for UBI, would you continue to work for them or would you seek employment elsewhere? At the very least on another branch of the Company so you don't have to put up with this misery? I don't understand it, what strung hold does UBI have on some of the people that work for them? Unless of course, they get paid really really well. So much so that it doesn't bother them much to let some of that integrity and pride go to waste. |

Glad to see this thread back "on topic". Well actually.....I'd rather not have to have this topic at all, but seeing as UBI ("the Company") still haven't seen the point in coming here to communicate with us lowly peasants it must go on...
UBI ("the Company"), You are telling yourself we ("the Community") here on this forum (indeed in this thread) are but a small fringe element of the greater Community which you cater to and therefore ignore our pleas (yes...pleas). If our pleas can't make things happen UBI, the natural course of events will. This life has a way of levelling things out: "what goes around, comes around". I am tired....soo tired.. the Monk |

Karma or Fate is a bitch...and regardless who you are, you can't escape it. Like you said, what goes around comes around. |

Hear is the said truth about what you are seeing. UBI has done the same thing in the past and nothing has changed you really think they are? What you all need to do is just go away and leave the game. But what is going to happen is just like last time and the time be for UBI is going to release another game and you are all going to run out and buy it just like you have and then you are all going to come here and talk about how they don't talk to you. Well guess what it has been going on for years not months but years. You all need to know that this is the way it is you are not going to get the old Rainbow Six games back in any way. UBI has shone that. I would love to see things get fix I would love to see another Raven Shield with better graphics and a fix for the bad build of the Unreal engine they used for it. But I think we all know that day will never come I would all so like to see them talk more and not blow smoke up our buts. But again this is not going to happen form UBI you are all better off just not buying or playing there games and send a true massage to them one they will here.

You might be right, but im a PS3 player so from a tactical shooter stand-point im VERY limited in what i can play. Maybe my memory is off but im pretty sure Vegas2 is the only tactical shooter on PS3 right now and for the foreseeable future. Basically, when i play tactical, its this or nothing. |
