You shouldn't have to forward ports to play .. only to host:

Here are the ports for Vegas 2:

TCP
80, 3074

UDP
3074 - 3174

Try opening the above ports but you may have something blocking your connection to the game.

There is an exceptions tab in Windows firewall.
Make sure Vegas 2 is in there and checked.
You shouldn't have to run with firewall off.

Can you connect with other games or is it just V2?
If you can narrow it down to just Vegas 2 then that would make it easier to diagnose.
If it is all games, then you have a network problem.

You can also bypass your router and connect directly to your modem just to eliminate a router issue.

If it works without the router, then you can work on setting up the router to allow Vegas 2.

Also, try to contact someone you know to see if they are having a problem when you do.
The Vegas 2 server is down quite often.

thanks for your help bro, something i don't understand:

TCP
80, 3074

UDP
3074 - 3174

so should i open like this?
80(TCP)
3074(TCP)
3074 ~ 3174(UDP)<<<THIS IS ONE PORT?

but i cannot open 80(TCP) coz another port is using as default, should i delete it?
and i am sure firewall is excepted
-----------------------------------------
so far i can only open 3074(TCP) and 3074 ~ 3174(UDP) these 2, but still not working at all,
-----------------------------------------
i have close my router firewall but still not work, i noticed that i cannot enable UPnP in game option, but i sure my router is enable it and windows firewall is not blocking 2869(TCP) & 1900(UDP). is that the problem?

I have a D-Link router that I can enter ports just like they are listed here.
Other routers, and especially those integrated in DSL modems use diffent methods .. (sometimes difficult) to open ports.

80 and 3074 are separate ports.

3074 - 3174 is a range of port numbers.

You would need to see what program is using TCP 80 before you delete it.
If a program uses that port for a specific purpose while you are online, then it would likely block you.

If you have more than one computer on a network, make sure you are forwarding the ports to the computer you are using for Vegas 2.
Normally, you would only open and assign ports to the computer, and for the application that you are using at present.

Example, when you play V2, just open the ports listed above and assign them to the computer you are playing on.
Leaving more ports than necessary open can leave you more open to attacks from outside.

Routers have an option to setup a profile, of sorts, for games or programs with the ports required for each.

Create a profile for V2 with the required ports assigned to the computer used for that game.
Then use only that profile when playing.
You can setup other profiles for your other games and applications, and just use one at a time.

That will also solve your (80) port conflict.

Can you enable UPnP in game option? I cannot, it's related to my issue?

UPnP is off on my systems.
I just tried to enable it so I could answer your question and it said "no UPnP capable router found"
So the answer is no!

Right now I am using a DSL/Router (combo) by 2Wire, so I don't know if I can enable it with my D-Link router or not.

When I use the D-Link, I bridge my Westell DSL modem to bypass the builtin router and give full control to the D-Link.

I had a DSL problem over the weekend so switched to the 2Wire to see if it was a modem/router problem, but it turned out to be on the DSL provider side.
Took 3 days to fix!

Hope you get your problem sorted!!

I have a question,if anyone has the answer/solution ,this would be great,as after i re-installed my av,s/ware,(which refreshed my memory) as a was running apps that require Internet access.to add then to the allowed list in my firewall.as i ran vegas2,it (vegas2)comes up with a error message,"failed to bind port 9989" what is this,?how does one bind 9989 ???,
it probably is not needed as i can play/host online,or could this be behind some of the issues of poor online play?
