First, is your CPU a dual core or core 2 duo?
There is a big difference in performance!

Are you running XP or Vista?
Again, a big difference in gaming performance!

The 8500GT is a very weak card for gaming!
Old 7800 and 7900 series cards perform much better.
Especially check the performance gap between your 8500GT and an 8800GT!
8500GT = 16.40 fps
8800GT = 107.90

Here is a chart that will help show you how performance of that card compares to other cards on the same game and settings.
http://www.tomshardware.com/ch...Duty-4-v1.6,741.html
Check near the bottom of the chart for your card!!

The chart is for COD 4 at 1280x1024 with no AA.
COD 4 is a much easier game to run than Vegas 2.

Vegas 2 is a poorly optimized console port and there are issues that have never been resolved!

I guess the short answer is .. your system will likely run the game, but at low resolutions and low setting .. with AA and other options off!

If you think playing a game at low settings is something you can live with, it may work okay for you.
Expect to get some graphics lag.
(And lots of lag online)

I suggest ditching the slow Nvidia 8500 and upgrading to an 8800 GT , 9600 gt , 9800 GT or something else recent depending on your budget.

Try to avoid the x500 cards they are slow like the old mx range of Nvidia cards.

I am currently waiting to upgrade my gaming PC system in Feb 2010 . By then the new i7 cpus (due oct 09) will be released and the current i7 cpu's should be a lot cheaper , the new mobos should be out that support SATA 3 and USB 3.

I currently use an Intel P4 3.0 Prescott CPU , Asus socket 478 mobo , 2 gig of Geil DDR1-400, 256MB 7600 GT AGP video card and an Maxtor 300 gig Maxline 3 hdd for games , 250 gig Maxtor SATA 1 for the OS drive (Nlite Win2003 & Debian 5.0.1). I can play most games fine I just turn off stuff I dont want like reflections , shadows , etc (Stuff that slows down cards)
