It sounds like Ubisoft's master server is down again.
I just checked and was able to log in, so if you can't get in right now, it appears you have another problem.

This is a broken game with many problems.

Try COD WaW.
Our gaming community has never had a problem with this game, and it is still very well supported.

thx for the info. I thought it was something like that. I have surfed the internet and it seams that the server of UBI is a lot off line. In the meanwhile a have managed the get back online (for a few times). grts Zeno1967

Honestly CoD4/5 WaW do not match up to this game even with all Vegas 2's problems.

COD4 / WaW have fewer chokepoints, most of the maps are smaller, and the gameplay is more like Super Marios Bros then a tactical shooter.

Not to mention the gamemodes are lackluster.

They are great games if you're into FPS Arcade games.

The biggest issue with Vegas 2 (and most UBI Soft games) at the moment is their login servers.

It usually doesn't take long before they go back up after a crash but the fact the crashes / resets are still going on is ridiculous.

That being said I think you'll find the gameplay, community, and overall fun factor of Vegas 2 (with all the community fixes) much higher then that of most any other FPS shooter out right now.

Insurgency, Project Reality mod for BF2, and OFP Dragon Rising are all good alternatives though if you're looking for something else.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is REALLY good BUT it has no dedicated server (yet) and getting answers out of Codemasters is like getting answers from UBI Soft.

COD WaW and COD4 are very unrealistic even when played with Hardcore "tactical" rules.

Half the time players don't pay attention to the rules when the admins are not present and you're left with nade spamming Super Bros type game.

The positive side is it runs well and there are a lot of players that still play the game.

If you're looking for a tactical shooter that has limited or no vehicle intervention go with:

Insurgency mod for HL2

Operating Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (only Hummers/Buggies, one chopper, and armed APCs for vehicles depending on the map)

If you're looking for a realistic battlefield tactical shooter go with Project Reality Mod for Battlefield 2.

The gameplay is fantastic, the realism is decent, the population is great, and the price is right (free if you have BF2).

Outside of that you'll have to wait until Battlefield: Bad Company 2 launches early next year.

It's basically an updated commercial version of Project Reality Mod for BF2.

I purchased Arma 2 (Armed Assault) and while it is probably the MOST realistic and ambitious it's also the most unplayable at this time.

There are some tweaks and settings to Arma 2 that help but it's just not where it needs to be in order for me to recommend it at this time.

If you want to play an AWESOME (and free now) Counter-Strike 1.6 killer that had serious potential back in the day check this link out:

http://tlp.proboards.com/index...n=display&thread=556

This game was amazing back in the day and has been updated by the community numerous times over the last 7 years.

It still has the old lithtech engine bullet drop issue but if you can get past it I put this in the top 3 greatest FPS shooters of all time right next to Raven Shield.

Don't forget to extra the anti-warp utility and run it before you launch the game.

I setup a server for this on our dedicated box in Dallas, TX. It's been lots of fun so far and brings back a lot of memories.

thx Ninjaboy for the variaty of games. A lot to choose from I think. I am looking forward to the purchase of flashpoint. I seems that this game is getting the most change to be a game that will be played a lot online. I have played also Crysis online but I HATE cheaters. And believe me, Crysis is full of cheaters. so thx Ninjaboy for the info.
