I was wondering, which game is more popular and has more people in multiplayer mode?
The Rainbow Six Vegas 2 or Rainbow Six Vegas 1? And one off topic question, if a person runs the game in minimum requirement, can they still become good or they would suck at the game due to bit of lag with the graphics. |

Vegas 2 has better graphics and more players, although both games are basically dead.
About the only advantage that Vegas 1 has is: More maps 4 player co-op Story. If the game runs smoothly at low settings, you should be able to play as well as anyone else .. it will just not look good. If you are getting graphics lag, you will have a hard time competing! |

Very seldom do I dissagree with my friend Lethal but this is one of those times. I have no problem finding games any time I want to play. So I contend the game may be wounded but not dead yet.
As for the lag issue I am in the U.S. and play in the A.M. here so I play with a lot of Europeans. So lag is a big issue for me. Thankfuly I have found several host that understand I can't perform at their level because of the lag issue. So if you are lagging lay down a lot of fire and hope the tango runs into it...lol. So good luck and good gaming. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. |

Hey Stryker.
There are still people playing, but by dead, I mean there are very few servers and players for a game that isn't all that old. We played Ravenshield last night and there were over 120 servers running. (A game that is 6-8 years old? Some older games have 100's or even 1000's of servers. Just checked COD WaW for comparison and there are 3849 servers running and tons of players. So I guess it is all in how you define "Dead"! Just to be fair, I cranked up Vegas 2: 20 servers running in Versus 12 players 35 T-Hunt games running. I have to admit, that is the most I have seen in awhile, so maybe not completely dead, but I see the hearse coming. But still not much of a following for a one year old game! Out of curiousity, I started up an even older game .. Quake 3 Arena. 2032 servers running!!! That really points to a serious issue with V2! Or more accurately, Ubisoft!! |

if anyone has a hard time running this game at max settings they really need to upgrade there ZX81 machine ..

While the game has a small community it is still loyal and dedicated.
My vegas 2 servers are packed throughout the entire day. I can't say the same for some of the other game servers I run especially Farcry 2. I have been playing America's Army 3 here lately. I can tell you the netcode in that game is awful. It has more bullet loss then Global Operations. Many times it also "hitchs" when you use full auto. Vegas 2 isn't perfect but it is actually someone solid in verses mode now. The community has managed to fix two of the major issues on their own: #1. Hardcore mode #2. Dedicated Server crash fixes. The only real major issue that still remains is the idiotic login UBI server that goes down all the time. I was working on a server timeout fix for it but unfortunately my main developer is no longer available to work on the project. I think it would be something simple to do. Leaderboard fixes for SADS would be nice as well. I almost had that one solved the other day. ------------------------------ http://www.squadgames.com Home of the PC Rainbow Six prize Tournaments. Hey Ninjaboy,
It's nice that you have put so much time and effort into making the SADS workable and for furnishing the files to the gaming community!! Most of the gamers I know played T-Hunt but have given up on it. If someone could develop a working SADS for T-Hunt, it would be a big help! The options are there, but I could never make it work and show up in the browser. It appeared to work, but no one could find it. (Actually, I think it showed up as a versus mode, but I don't believe anyone could join) The main issue I have with all of this is .. Ubisoft should be responsible for fixing all of the issues you have worked on, and making a fully working and playable game. The gaming community should NOT have to fix Ubisoft's mess so they are able to play a legal game they paid for. That is like buying a new car that won't start, or .. quits after a few miles down the road .. doesn't respond for several seconds after you press the throttle or .. Etc. .. Etc. And .. The car owners having to work out the fixes themselves because the car manufacturer refused to service it shortly after the sale. You are correct! There are a few dedicated's who are willing to work around Ubisoft's broken games, fix what they can, and tolerate the rest!! I'm sure the Vegas 2 community, (What's left of it) are grateful for your efforts!! |

I completely agree with Lethal1940's first post!!

Dude, I don't know what's up at your end, but I can see 8949 servers for CoD:WaW (maybe check your filter settings?), this doesn't includde co-op servers; and 14,372 for CoD4:MW. That's just with the ingame server browser... When you add to that things like xfire, gametracker, and all the other server trackers, there's more like 30,000 servers for CoD4 and 15,000 for CoD:WaW apparently... Cheers Muffun |

Hey Funkmunky,
I haven't seen you around in a long time! Where have you been hiding?? I probably do have some filters on as I play with a group of friends and relatives, so really don't use the game browser. I just did a quick search to show a comparison in games. At least I didn't exaggerate my numbers! COD WaW has a friends list (built in the game) and you just send an invite to players you want to join. That also saves them the time of a search of thousands of servers!! Nice to see you back! Stop by more often!! |

I agree with Lethal1940, rsv2 has ##### LITTLE survers running!! Compared to other games like cod(over 5000 servers) and ravenshield(1000+)
rsv2 have to little servers going. So u play the same maps and with the same players all the time...In COD i dont think anybody remembers if they have played with that or that person before, couse there are so many servers ::-)) |
||||
|
Last time I checked COD4, there were nearly 15,000 servers.
I still play COD WaW and there are always 3000-4000 servers and tons of players. It's too bad Ubisoft doesn't take some lessons from other developers! |

I have seen well over 100 PC Multiplayer users on in primetime for Vegas 2 recently.
Off hours you're lucky to get much more then 20-30 players though. UBI Lobby server / player service crashing hurts the game population more then anything else. It kicks off all the current players and prevents them from logging in while at the same time delists all the servers until they are restarted. They should get that fixed but we've been saying that for years now. ------------------------------ http://www.squadgames.com Home of the PC Rainbow Six prize Tournaments. Vegas 2 tournament TBA. |

Well as far as both games go for story, i personally think Vegas 1 is the better game. The environments are richer. Vegas 2 stepped up when it came to being able to shoot through doors and environment pieces.
Vegas 1 has way more maps, but the the multiplayer experience in Vegas 2 is better simply based on the scoring and patches for the extended Elite ranks. My friends and I all have the game out here on deployment, around 40 of us get on line and run multiple games in our lounge. We do elimation matches to see who goes where next, on versus and T Hunt. I love the vegas series opposed to COD just because of the tactics required. There are none in some of the COD series. I played Vegas 1 on line alot. Vegas 2 my wife and I do terrorist hunt. That has been the only video game she has enjoyed other then wii and rock band. So i was happy to get her involved in my hobby. Just my opinions above. Alan |

One another thing to note:
While COD5 might have 4000+ servers, I sorted the "search and destroy" servers and found that really only 10 or so of them were full. Those huge server lists in the more popular games can be very deceiving when 98% of the servers are empty or locked for match play only. America's Army 3 for example has ~200 servers however there are usually only 5 or 6 with a decent amount of players on them. Vegas 2 you can have 7-10 servers with 14-16 players on them during primetime weekend hours. ------------------------------ http://www.squadgames.com Home of the PC Rainbow Six prize Tournaments.
