Hey, I'm trying to decide whether or not it is a good idea to buy Vegas 2 (PC). I am old Raven Shield fanatic, but that game is just getting too crappy, and there are so many cheaters now a days.

What i really want to know is whether or not the online community for this game is active. Could someone post an average/estimation of how many players are online per day? Anything that could help me decide would be great.

Vegas 2 is nothing like Ravenshield.
There are a few players left, but mostly in T-Hunt co-op.

The Ai spawn at trigger points and will just contine to rush your location, climbing over their buddies to see how high you can stack them up.

Net code is horrible, and there is bad lag for all but the host.
No SADS for T-Hunt!

Story was cut from 4 player co-op in Vegas 1 to 2 player in Vegas 2.

This is a bargin bin game, so it may be worth the price, but be warned that there are tons of bugs and glitches that have never been fixed.
Ubisoft abandoned Vegas 2 and it's gaming community over a year ago, so don't expect any fixes, new content, or support!

Thanks for your input guys. Would you say my best bet now would be to stick with Raven Shield until a new R6, or just go ahead and buy Vegas 2? The only big differences I can see between Vegas 2 and Raven Shield are the graphics, number of players online (RvS has 120+ per day, Vegas 2 has around 50 per day), and the third person view for Vegas 2. But with Raven Shield the graphics are awful, there are tons of cheaters/hackers, and it seems to run much worse on Intel computers (which I have).

So, whaddya say?

wneal .. what is your system configuration?

Ravenshield is much easier to run than Vegas 2.
I would check the minimum requirements for Vegas 2 before buying if you are having troulbe running RS.

Vegas 2 won't run on older video cards .. you need a card that supports at least shader 3.0.

Last I check, you can buy V2 on Newegg for $7.99 shipped, but that is still a waste if you can't run it.

V2 is a poorly optimized console port and takes a little horse power to run correctly!!

Here is a link that may be helpful:
http://www.vgrequirements.info/?p=7645

I have seen a few computers have problems with 1 MB of memory even though that is stated as being minimum.

Remember these are minimum requirements, not recommended.

Here are my specs:

--Aluminum Intel iMac (I dual-boot Vista/Mac. --Using Vista for games)
--Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz
--3 GB RAM (updated)
--ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT (gotta thank Apple for putting laptop graphics cards inside Desktop Computers...lol)
--And plenty of free hard drive space...

Well, here is the note provided in the minimum specs:

* ATI HD 2400 models / Nvidia GEforce 7300 models are supported, but take note the performance of those cards might not give a good gaming experience.

I my opinion Vegas 2 wouldn't be worth the price and effort on your present system!
Like I mentioned earlier .. Vegas 2 is a poorly optimized console port and doesn't run well on low end systems.

I definitely don't want to buy a new computer now. But once a new R6 is released I'll probably have enough saved money to build one.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I'm holding off until a new R6, and sticking with RvS :P.

Squadgames.com HS1 server is full throughout most of the day.

You'll have cheaters in every PC online game and Vegas 2 is no different.

However with good admins you can prevent a lot of the nonsense.

The community fixes alone make the $5 investment in Vegas 2 for PC worth it.
