Hi guys

I bought R6V2 yesterday and couldn't get it working (the whole 'Cannot locate disk thing') So I downloaded the 'official crack' today. That seemed to work great but then when I start it up, some textures are just missing or something. some of the walls in the menu room are black, as well as the character. I started the game, in case it was just the menu but when I come onto the opening level, lo and behold, more black textures. plus, i couldn't see any gun or hands. Or a floor for that matter. Just a few background images like mountains etc. Obviously I'm getting pretty tired of doing all this for a game. Thanks in advance for your help!

P.S the disk doesn't look scratched

Your problem could be caused by several things, but my first guess would be Direct X.

It could also be caused by your video driver, or a heat issue with your graphics card.

You don't list system specs., and you don't mention if you get this issue with other games.

Make sure your video drivers are up to date.

Then download the Direct X Redistributable.

Don't use the web based version.

I have listed this link and instructions a few times in here, but will list it once more for you.

Download the Direct X redistributable file to a folder you can easily find.
After downloading .. double click that file and extract to that same folder.
There will be a ton of files!!

Locate and run the file .. DXSETUP.exe
This will update only as needed.

I use Riva Tuner to control video card fan speed, and also GPU and graphics memory clock speeds.

Don't forget to get the 1.03 patch and the map pack.
There is also another map called Comcast Event.
You can download them from the stickied thread that the top of this forum.

BTW:
The disk problem is a known issue.
I has to do with Ubisoft's copy protection and happens often if you have a SATA DVD drive.
