General protection fault - I get this like 5 times a day. Completely different specs.

Nothing to do with temperatures as someone said, actually a memory allocation problem.

I tried increasing swap file to try and fix it... it seems random and definately some game glitch they OUGHT TO FIX.

i have not had the quit/close of game to desktop or a gen pro fault for must be 4weeks or longer,if i do get these it's during gameplay (online) t/hunt it seems it's linked to ubi game advertising updates,i.e. working without problem ,server down otherday,server up again game ok,yesterday ads appear in several maps i get a quit to desktop (no error report) then after a reboot a gpf after around 2hrs of play,to say its linked to hardware/software ect is just an excuse from ubi,in most cases it is not the cause,i have hardware that exceeds the games minimum requirements,unfinished game springs to my mind

@User_Name_0

That's what I have found about general protection faults, so I'm with you in that I am sure it is a hard coded issue. Maybe the coders over at Ubi don't know how to use pointers.

I received this error twice in one day when I hosted a single player coop session. I have crashed to desktop before in this game but never received a GPF message. Maybe xfire is the culprit?

I looked at that article. Its not hardware as I ran checks on my memory and hard disk. I know it is an issue with referencing memory that's already being used, but I think its the fault of Ubi, however none of the Ubi tech supports seem to know much about operating systems or even basic computer architecture so they run through the pre-written questions that don't help like "Did you plug in your computer?" "Are you attempting to run on Windows 95?" "Do you have a CD rom drive?" "Are you alive?"
So I think its a problem with the software writers and the $1.50/hr hired help in India probably has no exposure to the game in the first place.

I had a same general fault protection error whenever I tried to start Vegas2. I ended up having to back up my player profile from the My Documents\My Games\Ubisoft\R6Vegas2 directory onto a flash drive. Completely uninstall Vegas2, overwrite the saved game location, Make sure it got deleted from the registry, restart my pc and then re-install the game including the patches. After all that finished, I then just copied the files back to the R6Vegas2 folder and I was able to play it again. Fortunately I didn't lose my Elite24 Rank
