Both wireless and wired controllers work, yes, you're correct.
I don't know if this is necessary (it was for me) but I had to install teh Microsoft drivers first before I did the PID/VID thing. And I only used the controller to activate cheats (after I beat the game of course on Realistic). Try Third-Person-Mode and Super-Rag-Doll mode, it's fun to play it Gears of War style AND watch tangos fly halfway across the map! -+-+_ |

I couldn't get the wireless to work, the wired controller works great.

Although the controller will now work with the game, the controls might be screwy, so you need to add this line in : "UseXInput=true" Mine now looks like this: [Joystick0] ProductName=XBox Controller HID Minidriver, XID VendorID=1118 ProductID=1817 UseXInput=true Joy1=XboxTypeS_A Joy2=XboxTypeS_B Joy3=XboxTypeS_X Joy4=XboxTypeS_Y Joy5=XboxTypeS_RightShoulder Joy6=XboxTypeS_LeftShoulder Joy7=XboxTypeS_LeftThumbstick Joy8=XboxTypeS_RightThumbstick Joy9=XboxTypeS_Start Joy10=XboxTypeS_Back Joy11= Joy12= Joy13= Joy14= Joy15= Joy16= Axis_X=XboxTypeS_LeftX Axis_Y=XboxTypeS_LeftY Axis_Z=XboxTypeS_RightX Axis_Rotation_X= Axis_Rotation_Y= Axis_Rotation_Z=XboxTypeS_RightY Slider_0=XboxTypeS_RightTrigger Slider_1=XboxTypeS_LeftTrigger DPadUp=XboxTypeS_DPad_Up DPadDown=XboxTypeS_DPad_Down DPadLeft=XboxTypeS_DPad_Left DPadRight=XboxTypeS_DPad_Right works for a pelican 360 controller |

I am using a MadCatz Xbox 360 controller. I identified the VID 0738 (hex converted to 1848) and the PID 4716 (hex converted to 18198). I entered all variations of those numbers into PID/VID PCKellerJoystick.ini file . It still won't work. I still cannot select the controller option in the game, and it will not switch to "on".
I am using Windows Vista, and I loaded the XBOX PC Controller Application onto Windows prior to installing the game, and while that application sees my controller the vegas2 game does not. What am I doing wrong? Any Ideas? Anyone? |

For future reference, that Madcatz controller you have works w/ Rainbow Six 1. You MUST, however, edit the *.ini file in the "KellerGame/Config/PC" directory, not the "KellerGame/Config" directory. I made that mistake at first and wasted a lot of time as a result. The file name isn't "PCKellerJoystick*" either, it's just "KellerJoystick*." Aside from that, the VID and PID you calculated is correct. One other thing, erase all the button mappings (everything after Product ID for the Joystick0 entry) and just insert the UseXInput=true. If you don't do that, the axis will be wonky and the game, accordingly, unplayable. |

Under the PCKellerJoysticks settings you have to change both of the xbox 360 settings for both the controller and the wireless reciever, it will be under (Joystick0) and (Joystick2 after you have changed both of these settings it works! I have completed these tasks and now have a fully functional wireless controller in Vegas 2. I am using Windows Vista 64 with no problems.

How is the guide confusing? Other users posted that guide, and I simplified it even further. Are you telling me that you're unable to work INI files?

I actually have no idea what you just said. Can you please elaborate? (preferably in proper grammar)
Simply use an online hexadecimal converter and switch out your PID / VID for your joystick through PCKellerJoysticks.ini . That's it. -+-+_ |

So I tried everything the tutorial said, I even have the exact same VID and PID as the tutorial writer. I followed everything exactly as is and it still does not work. I have the Xbox Accessories 1.1 drivers installed, and the controller works fine for everything else. I tried changing the VID and PID of PCKellerJoysticks file, DefaultJoysticks file, to no avail. I also changed the VID and PID of every joystick listed that was a 360 controller. I literally tried everything. I even tried reinstalling Vegas 2, and completly starting over manually finding the PID and VID again, and inputting them into the ini, again. And I still cannot switch the 360 controller option on. Yes i'm running administrator mode, yes the ini file is correctly saving, yes I have proper drivers installed. It's just simply not working the way it did for everyone else. Trust me, I've looked over the file like a thousand times, the VID and PID are properly there.
Here is a picture in case there a skeptics. FYI I'm running Vista 32 Ultimate. Not osx. Thanks. |

Did you convert your PID/VID in a hexadecimal converter before you put them into your INI file? Most people forget that step. That's the most important part. EDIT: Also, your image link doesn't work, copy the DIRECT IMAGE LINK whenever using IMG tags from ImageShack. EDIT2: Ok, so I finally got your ImageShack image to work. I see that you've converted your numbers. The only thing I have to say is that some of my friends who have Vista went through all the steps too and couldn't get the controller to work. In that case, I have no other help to offer for you, except my greatest condolences that Ubisoft has made another lousy title of a game. This message has been edited.
