As I understand it, the ball is in Microsoft's court, though I suspect they have to consult with the GearBox developers.
There is an interview with Todd Holmdahl, the Corporate Vice President of the Xbox Product Group on the Xbox.com site where he briefly talks about what is involved: "backward compatibility on Xbox 360 is done through software. Now that we’ve solved the technical challenge and the emulator is working, we’re certifying each original Xbox title by hand to run on Xbox 360." They could have included the original Xbox chips in the 360 but I suspect there were intellectual property issues and likely $$$ problems. I foolishly decided to trade in my old Xbox to pay for the 360 and have not been able to play the legacy BIA games in over a year. I'm not selling them on eBay, though - still hoping for a BIA patch. |

Both my BiA games are sitting with all my other xbox360 games. Praying for a BC patch

Here's hoping ...
The editor's mailbag at IGN had some news about a backward compatibility update: Backwards Compatibility Woes I'm wondering if you have heard from Microsoft when the next Backwards Compatibility update is going to happen. Editor Unfortunately, we haven't. It doesn't seem like much of a priority for Microsoft. MS makes all of its money when you buy new games, not used copies of old Xbox titles. That doesn't mean MS gets a free pass though. Hopefully a new update will come with the Spring Update in June. http://xbox360.ign.com/mail/ Don't forget, you can register your interest in the Brothers in Arms titles getting BC blessings with an email to backcomp@microsoft.com |

Well, I guess we know where we stand:
Microsoft has released their latest compatibility update and Band of Brothers missed the cut ... again. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=13607 Not for nothing, but some explanation would really be helpful. This is discouraging. |

MS need to make the last two games compatible with the 360.
I was shocked when i loaded up Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood only to get the message that neither game was supported. |

I think it'd be a very good idea if we all emailed them at once and let them know how we feel!! Something to the effect of - Please Could you inlude the Brothers in Arms Games on your next update for Backward Compatability xbox games to xbox360..
Send to : backcomp@microsoft.com |

Backward Compatibility for Microsoft is getting a lesser focus. See the following blog post from March of this year on Gizmodo:
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-entertainment/xbox-360-...-after-07-242775.php Like any company, MS has to make decisions about how to apply resources (even MS has constraints). They now have over 200 titles listed as BC. Since their goals involve selling more Xbox 360s, getting royalties on NEW Xbox 360 game titles, and selling content (TV shows, movies) they'd only invest more in backward compatibility if they thought it would help them sell more boxes. At this point, they probably figure they've converted the most original Xbox owners they're going to. Selfishly, I do hope they do make Earned in Blood and Road to Hill 30 BC, but I'm beginning wonder if they didn't run into technical issues in developing the necessary patch. Keep hoping. |

On the outside looking in, once again.
Well, Microsoft has added 84 more games to its Backward Compatibility list for the Xbox360 and neither Brothers-in-Arms title made the cut. There are now over 300 BC titles for the 360 but we are still left disappointed. It would be nice to understand if there are insurmountable technical issues involved or if MS has any plans to write the patch for our games. Gettin' tired of this. |
