I just bought the game, updated to patch 1.3 and lunched it. However it starts to say "Insert original DvD into your DvD mechanic and try again." When i was desperate enough i brang the game to a friend, instaled it, downloaded the patch and the game offered me an option to actualy GET the verification code witch i inserted into window suited for it. Yet, it worked but It didnt appear on my computer. Tried to reinstal it several times but its still the same. I got internet connection, all my other games are running softly and this thing just drives me mad. I even got the code written down, i just have no idea where to enter it. Can anyone help please?

I guess you mean DVD serial number?

When I installed mine it didn't ask for the serial number and I think it's just for online play anyway

When you say you took the game to a friend, do you mean you installed it on his computer?
The option to get a code only happens if the SecuRom copy protection detects disc copying software, the code is for that computer.
If you don't get the online verification request on your own computer, and you get the ""Insert original DVD" request, the UBI solution on the German site is to install this:
SPTD driver
Installing this will force the online activation, and should remove the need to use the DVD in the drive.
However, the activation can only be carried out for 3 installs as far as I know, if you try and install it after that you will need to contact Ubisoft.

This game worked once and then it couldn't find the original CD. then when I downloaded the 1.2 patch it asked me for an activation code. I entered the Cd key then pressed next and a window popped up and said
quote:
Your request has been blocked by a remote
. What happended?

Patch to 1.6, then try again, the 1.2 activation was changed in a later patch.

I updated to patch 1.6and it still said Your request was bocked by a remote host. The window that came up after said activation process could not be competed error (13:5) occured when saving the nessecery Data. I paid for this game and I kind of expect it to work.

I just purchased this game today and am getting the same message.

"Please insert original DVD of "The Settlers - Rise of an Empire"!

I have patched to v1.6 and have tried the download link provided for SPTD and still no luck.

With the latest patches, SPTD no longer forces the online verification, if you wish to force it, try starting the game without the disc in the drive, I used this method myself to be able to run the game without having to use my disc.
However, whether the Tages server is online, or if it accepts your CD key, seems largely a matter of pure luck.
