first i install...version 1.6.xxxx..
then i want to play...it wants to download a patch..i let it...misstake (patch dont work) i got a newer version ???goto manual update..get the file..1.71 update..i got 1.6 after fresh install..nope dont work i got the newer version (cant that stupid program count..1.6 is BEFORE1.7)well that update lets play.

i tried it with a zero or a O nope... capitals..nope...with - as seperation..nope...without ?? nope..the code dont work.
so now im ****ed of ...again..for getting stuff that DONT WORK.

As far as your patch problem is concerned, the message you get when you try to update to the latest patch often happens with the Gold version.

The way to solve it is to delete the S6Patch.ini in both Program Files\Ubisoft\THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire\base\bin, and Program Files\Ubisoft\THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire\extra1\bin.

Then, manually download and install Patch 1,71.

As for your key problems, either the Ubi game login server was down, or you're making a mistake of some kind entering the key, mistaking a Q for an O perhaps, or B and 8, S and 5.

You did buy a new game, and not a used one? as sometimes the previous owner is still using the game key, which can be a problem with used versions.

Well don't get mad ripperjack, all of the games i get have bugs and glitchs that ruin my games, why can't people make updates and be good at them and I am entitled to my own opion but it is a good game(Rise of the empire) but even that when i got it I thought it was broken so i got another one bam that didnt work so i got enther it worked with minor flaws, then i found out about updates but hey fail.
