I have the same problem as above. I bought the game at a retail store in Australia

I finally got Eastern Realm working after being in contact with the support team! I got all sorts of strange advise, but I suspect it was the fact that I turned off my Internet-connection that solved it. I got new exe-files as well but I'm not sure that made any difference. I didn't have to activate the game at all and I don't need a CD to play.

Hi everybody!

I think I have the ultimate solution! Just install the game (gold edition + eastern realms) and patch the game to ver1.6. Then just copy the settlers6.exe from base\bin folder to the extra1\bin folder and replace the old settlers6.exe file.

The next step is to enjoy the game (without the DVD inserted)!

I can CONFIRM Anzzik's solution.

At first I had the same problem with vista but its working now. I installed Rise Of The Empire than The eastern Realm. to play the Eastern Realm I take the Rise Of The Empire (the first game) and clic on the icon of The Eastern Realm (Mission pack) and you can start to play

I bought the gold edition just a couple of weeks ago, and feel in love immediately! But i was stuck with the same problems as everyone else in here - having the expansion pack not working! I ofcoz tried all the other suggestions in here, but none worked - so i have been soooo sad and annoyed

But then you write this simple solution and it WOOORKS!

Yeah. I don't think that I'll do a separate thread for this because I think it's useless. This thread stays at the beginning of the forum so the answer can be easily found from here. If somebody disagrees I'm sure you can make the thread. But anyway I'm happy that the solution has worked out fine and hopefully there isn't any problems with the solution. The main thing is that the game we love works!!!

Somebody somewhere must be listening to everyone on here because I loaded Eastern Realm last night, it patched to 1.6 and worked straight away with no problems at all

Of course, you could always just download the new 1.7 patch, problem solved without having to do anything then.

Was trying to install the patch 1.77 that you have a link for in your last post. But, everytime i do, and no matter were i go to get the patch it brings up a box on my screen saying, "The installed version of THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire is not compatible with this update!"

I have tried patch 1.5 1.6 1.7 and 1.77. They all pop up the same exact box. Any help would be appreciated.

Go into the folder the game is installed to, look in both Program Files/Ubisoft/THE SETTLERS-Rise of an Empire/base/bin and Program Files/Ubisoft/THE SETTLERS-Rise of an Empire/extra/bin and if you see a config file called "s6patch.ini" delete it.

Now install Patch 1,71 and it should update ok.

I'm havin'g an different kind of problem. Somehow the patch can't write into a file.
The autopatch:

I managed to take that file from he temporary folder and tried to update it manually, well. It went all fine untill:
"Can't write: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire\base\support\GameUpdates\S6GameUpdate.exe"
Nothing seems to be visibly wrong for my eyes. Ofcourse the patch file has authorities to do whatever it wants.

So, what can I do to it? The game tough works all fine.
