That's a display card /driver problem, what card do you have, and how up to date are your drivers?

Is it a desktop card or the Mobility X300 in a laptop?, that chip was used in both, and what version of Windows do you have, XP or Vista?

Well, I can't play settlers in anyway with my system. Tried running it on lowest resolution, lowest colordepth, all the sliders to the left, it just won't work.
Everytime I play the game, the game runs slow as hell (like lag). But when there are cutscenes(like when you win a campaign map at the end) you see the framerate it should be running on. Also tried to lower/higher refreshrate, but it won't work. I'm using a laptop, these are the specs: HP Compaq 8510p Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 Ghz 2Gb RAM that runs on 667 mhz ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 256 mb dedicated (1Gb total memory) It should be able to run settlers 6... Why? Because I can play Oblivion / etc all on highest settings with this system. |

I keep getting CTD (Crash to Desktop) when playing campaign mission 4 (Narfang).
Seems to be worst after laying roads, but has happened several times when I haven't been laying roads. Has got worse since theiving the documents from the enemy storehouse. The first time it happened was after I experienced a "game failed to save" error so I lost all my progress for the level too. My spec: Rock Extreme CTX Pro notebook, 2gb, RAM Core 2 Duo 7600 CPU, nVidia 7950GTX, Vista Ultimate. |

This is a Gateway laptop and on speaking to their support team they said the calculation is being made on the physical memory which is only half of the memory it actually uses, and that if you can force the game to run then it should run fine. Is there anyhing I can do or is my laptop just not good enough? |

To be honest, the Intel graphics chip is not really intended for serious gaming, even with more actual onboard memory, you'd find it wasn't really good enough.

Hi, when i click on the multiplay tab, the game goes into it but after a few seconds it says there is no connection and i should check my firewall and network.
I have tried turning my firewall off but it makes no difference, any suggestions? Many thanks for any help. Plus it often tells me to insert the original dvd :S |

Have you just installed the patch? if so the saves arem't compatable If it's not patch related, it may be that the saves have become corrupted and you might need to restart the level, try using only a few saves, as they are temporarily stored in memory while playing, you might simply be running out of free memory for them. You may need to set the ports in your router as well for online play, check also that your antivirus is allowing access to the Ubi online game. The "Insert Original DVD" message could be related to the copy protection, your drive firmware, (check for updates) or simply the disc or drive needing cleaning. Have you installed the patch? If by lag you mean the scrolling lag, that's something we all seem to get in varying degrees, hopefully they might release a patch to improve things. As for comparing RoaE to Oblivion, that's hardly a useful comparison, as they are two totally different game types, with different requirements. Oblivion, for all it's outdoor settings as well as indoors, is basically an FPS type of game in it's design, the main requirement in those types of games have fewer units to cope with, and Oblivion has had it's share of moans too about the way it reduces the quality of objects further away, to improve speed of rendering. The in game graphics controls are also limited to avoid settings that would cause problems, you have to use your video cards own controls to fine tune things. hey,
I just bought settlers VI and sofar I came upon these problems. - very fast cutscenes and laggy gameplay => sollution seemed to be that the settlers program has problem with dual or more core processors. Go into your processes and put the process affinity of the settlers process to one CPU only and that will fix it - game hangs and is unrecoverable you need to reboot => there is no sollution as far as I can see, However I did manage to find the crashlogs in my windowshousekeeping and it's appearently the display driver that is stuck in an infinite loop. This has probably 2 causes a) bad driver, b) bad programming on using the display driver. Hope this info helps you out a bit, and I do like to see these issues fixed tbh. Also due to these problems an autosave feature every 5 or 10 minutes wouldn't be a bad thing !!! |

lol, don't tell people it's their graphics card that's causing most of their problems, they won't listen and will just flame you, even if that's what the nv error message is saying, it MUST be the game, it CAN'T be their computer.

Hello all,
I'm getting horrible graphics distortion when saving. So bad that I must quit the game and shut down the box. This, so far, is the only issue I have found. I'll post my sys stats at the end. Just a note, I run World in Conflict on Very High and experience NO PROBLEMS. Sytems Stats: Vista 64 AMD 64 x2 4800+ processor 4 Gig ram GEForce 8600 GT with the 09/18/07 ForceWare 163 driver update Viewsonic 22" Widescreen HD Display Bill |

Just a thought, although we have no confirmation from the Devs at the moment, it seems that this game stores it's saves in system memory while playing, and the more saves you have and the more background processes you may have running, regardless of wheter it's XP or Vista, can result in running out of usable memory, it may be worth while limiting your saves and deleting old ones you don't need in order to free up the memory.
