it is most likly your are crashing due to having a geforce 7 card as the game has crashed with them since launch patch 1.3 was ment to fix this problem but it has made no differance so all you can do is either try to return the game or wait and hope they finaly fix the bug allowing people with the geforce 7 cards to actualy play the game. |

My system: GEFORCE 7500 LE
forceware: 169.21 512 MB BIOS 5.72.22.43.30 IRQ 16 I can't play 5 minutes without the game shutting down the whole desktop. Like everybody else on these 14 pages of technical issues who can't make this $50 game work. I for one am thoroughly pissed off at Ubisoft for putting a product on the market long before it was fully developed. Ubisoft should be paying us since we're doing the beta-testing for them. |

The ingame interface hinders one in panning the map to the bottom right and left. The same problem exists in the Demo. This is a pretty annoying bug. I wonder why it wasn't caught in the beta testing.

Seems like I'm experiencing some problems with the new Settlers. I can't even start the game, it just goes black and after a few seconds windows gives an error that it's closing down the program. It does not say what's causing it, and it does this everytime. I already patched to 1.3, used the latest videodrivers and tried to run it in win XP and win 2k mode.
Systeem: - Intel Q6600 - 4 GB RAM - Asus 8800GT 512MB - Vista 64bit Home Premium Anybody got a clue on why I can't start the game? The game has the games for windows label so it should work on Vista. The game runs perfect on my brother pc (win XP) so the disc isn't the problem. All other games I played on my pc so far work fine. Anybody can help? Thanks... |

To Aspharanx
I know theres alot to read in these technical forums, some of it being completely useless complaining and trashtalking, but I think a previous post I may help. I didnt have the exact same problem you were, and our systems are quite different, but at the time I was having problems with the game is when i was using 4gb of RAM. When I removed 2g (was using dual channel) the game seemed to run perfectly. Try removing some of your RAM and see if it has any effect. Just a thought. |

Thank you for your reply. I've been checking this whole topic via search so I've read your sollution. However, a game should run without removing RAM, and thus I have no plans to lower the amount of RAM in my pc. There are other people here that report other problems but also have vista and 4 GB Ram, so it should work. Removing 2 GB is not a sollution for me. |

Forgive what might seem a crude question;
Is this a BETA version of Settlers VI? From what I've read and the types of errors people are encountering, I get the impression this game hasn't been thoroughly tested. I want to buy this game, in fact I was going to go and buy it later today if it's in stock.. but I don't want to get home and install something that is riddled with bugs and technical errors. If anyone bought Settlers IV (original release) they'll understand my concerns and hesitation to buy another game in the series. |

all these faults are still in the final version of the game as in house beta testing uses rigid system spec instead of a broad range then open beta is just used by people as a demo and nothing gets tested/reported. |
|||
|
Without meaning to waste time and space in this thread... I have to ask a further question:
What sort of QA is being provided if the testing environment is rigid? Seems like history repeating to me. |
||||
|
Perhaps a closed beta should have done the trick. Atari used to have a nice system where you could apply as a beta tester and you could earn your stripes. If they know you are a good tester you can get more beta's, when you download (and register) to do a beta and you submit none or you aren't active on the forum etc. they can stop providing betatests to you. Perhaps UBI should do something like that. Besides my problem on my new pc, I haven't encountered any problems on my previous pc, besides videolag but that was my pc |

the fact is there is that much diferant hardware they will only test it on a hadn full of setups meaning many things might get looked over like i can only asume during testing this game never touched a pc with a geforce 7 but the fact is open beta are going to keep going as now the game firms are basiacly using it to get free publicity. the fact is as long as the games can use beta testing as free publicity and not having to pay any1 they will do it that way even if it does mean the games come out full of bugs. pluss you also have the thing that alot of firms wont do a test on a range of systems cause they have got use to the console mentality i only hope the reason assins creed got held back is for further testing after this poor excuse for a final copy. |

Despite what caswallawn_2k7 says, some problems that were reported in the open beta have been fixed and many of the players of RoaE have never had the problems that he seems to have had with his system. I, and many other people have played with no problems at all. Perhaps if you look at the stickied thread Graphics Cards and Drivers and read the list of cards that are being successfully used, you could compare your system with them. |

by the sound of the amount of people having this problem the server they are using for validation must have a fault on it. you could try contacting customer suport but not sure how much help they would be. |

At the start of campaign 13 after I have chosen a knight and the mission starts to load, it exits to the desktop with the error message:
End of file "maps\campaign\c00\c00_m13_montecito\MapData.xml"! This has been reported by another user, but I couldn't find a response to it. |

I am not sure if this qualifies as a technical question, but i cannot find the map editor. It is not in the game folder and i cannot access it from inside the game. I bought the game yesterday and patched it. Please help me locate the map editor.

Open your Explorer (Not Internet) and navigate to your Harddrive, the program folder, ubisoft, settlers, base, bin and start s6mapeditor.exe |

LAN game disconnects
We have patched to version 1.3 and are trying to play a LAN game but while in the prep room the client player gets kicked off. Sometimes we get the game started but it finishes within a few minutes. We are using the same serial number on both computers. Is that OK for a LAN game? We have tried both wireless and wired network. Other LAN games like AOE3 are working fine but not Settlers I have disabled all firewalls and Antivirus. Still the same problem. Any ideas? Thanks, Dan |
