If you guys are running into technical problems with Settlers VI: Rise of an Empire, please post the problem on this thread.

Please keep in mind, that the problems I will be looking over are technical and not related to features. If you would like to see something added to the game that is not already there, try to create another post about that wanted feature. This is a list for items that might be broken and needs to be fixed.

If you are running into installation problems, please state how far you get into the installation and if you see an error message. Try to copy your installation error message and state what Operating System you are running.

If you are running into a situation where the game does not start at all, please post what video card you are using and what operating system you are using. Try to copy and paste any error messages you see. A full detailed description of where you crash and what happens just before you crash will help.

If you are running into performance issues, like the game is running choppy, list your video card and operating system.

If you see another post that matches your problem, simply quote that post and state you are also running into the problem. Also, list your video card and operating system.

I'll try to explain my problem.
First of all, sorry if my english is not very good, i'm french =)

The game freezes and crashes randomly.

Sometimes when i'm able to exit the game a messages appears and tells me that nv4_dll/nv4_dsp doesn't work. Sometimes I meet a blue screen which says that i'm under an "infinite loop".

I've tested several differents drivers and cleaned the older with Driver Cleaner.

i've tried to switch off AA and Anisothropic filtering but that failed

My computer :
Nvidia 7800 GTX 256 MB with latest drivers
Intel Pentium IV EE 3.5
Windows XP Sp2 updated
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Zs with latest drivers
1 GB ram.

Same as above again. One can stave of the crash for a while by saving the game frequently (or so it appears). The crash leaves the mouse pointer and the music active (though the music does hiccup occasionally).

Seems to be nv4_disp.dll that breaks. That's what it says when it bluescreens. I usually reset my machine when getting this bug so I don't know if it always BSOD's or only sometimes.

Fully updated in every way, clean install of graphics driver had no effect.

MSI GF7950GT 512MB fanless
AMD X2 3800+ (clocked to 2,2GHz)
MSI Diamond nForce 590 SLi

The game will lag when you scroll around the map. If you zoom in or click on the map to move you never notice the lag. The game itself dose not lag only when you scrol. Changing the graphic setting all the way down or up have no effect on this lag.

When the knight talks to you his picture will sometimes not appear and the sound for his vocie will also not work.

Multiplayer is spotty at best. Everyone is having a hard time connecting to each other.

The placement of walls is out of wack as well.

If you have to many saved games the game will slow down and or crash.

You might want to check the Bug Topic as well since the comunity posted alot of problems there.

Thanks

Smash

Just a note to say that you can work around this issue until it's fixed simply by clicking the knights icon twice (left side of screen) so that it minimizes the knights portrait box and brings it back again. It worked for me in the scenarios (didn't try the campaigns) where this bug occured too.

Whenever I click on Online Game or LAN Game it immediately crashes to desktop. If I unplug my ethernet cable it doesn't crash but says unable to connect.

I find this in any error logs relating to the CTD:

[ 2007/09/29 22:14:46: 203 ]Agora LEVEL_ERROR: Could not detect any DNS IP addresses.
[ 2007/09/29 22:14:46: 203 ]Agora LEVEL_ERROR: s_singleton != NULL

Edit: Should add I have,

Windows XP Professional x64
AMD Athlon XP 4600+ 64bit dual core
ATI X1900XTX 512mb
4 gb corsair
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe

Every savegame in Mission 6 would NOT reload, had to play it through in one sitting or I would get the BSOD.

Also, initially, game would freeze to BSOD randomly.

nVidia GTX7800 Ultra go. 256
2 gigs RAM
3.8 processor

No crashing recently as I've updated every single driver via Windows Update Custom

Also, cannot run on AF or AA w/out crashing
Also, settings will not let me max them out.

thanks,
pat

pakasharra...did you force your vSync on manually in your display options in windows? That, ultimately, might be the biggest thing...not sure though, as I've said, the crashing and freezing seems to be completely random!

sorry!

Another bug or something I'm NOT doing right...

Is it just me or does the re-supply troops function NOT work? I admit, I could be trying it w/ my solider limit maxed, I'm just not sure...

Im having trouble when saving a game. 7 times out 10, I'll click save and all that happens is a message in Yellow text pops up saying "Game failed to save" and then the game carries on. Same thing happens with both Save and QuickSave.

At one point I tried to save halfway through a game and it happened. I hit the windows key and came back to the desktop. I went back into settlers and the save funtion actually worked. Only after I saved I had huge graphics slowdown with a few graphical errors (black patches) which led to a crash. And then my desktop background had vanished and changed to a solid black one.

I have no overheating problems or problems with drivers so the graphics stuff came about from the failed saving issue.

Windows Vista Home Premium
8800GTX 758mb
2gb RAM
250GB HDD
Core2Duo E6850

Configuration :

Windows XP Pro
8800 GS 256mb DDR
1gb RAM
180 gb HDD
Athlon XP 64 3GHz

When I click on the "LAN" button, the game crashes systematically.

It has crashed once too during a campaign (part 2) when I select a menu. But it was just for once and not everytime.

ok i got this game on 10/4/07 today is 10/6/07. i have played it almost non stop since getttign it. the game will lock up for no apparent reason. it has locked up during a save, dureing a reload of a saved game. during a promotion, or just anywhere it wants to. but it seems to be after 6 or more hours of game play. it is irritating to have 4 or more hours into game and then it freezes and i have to start the mission over.
