Hi can ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE i have installed settles 3 and installed the patch and it will start up but i get a error message wen i put in my cd key and it shuts down the game has any one else had this problem and been able to fix it the error reads Error!

Windows error #80070005 (Access is denied.) occured at error check, file E:\Siedler3\Win32\Registry.cpp, line 48.

Please any surgestions

I had already suggested that this was a access rights error - To me it looks as though the user does not have Administrative privileges on the computer, but we established that the user does.

If anyone else has had this issue, could they please advise - Thank you.

Just Googled the error and its not something common to Vista it happens in XP as well,there are numerous threads about it but not one thats specific to all the people who have posted Frown but it is to do with Permissions seems finding the file causing it is the nightmare.

grr i am getting this error now aswell, exact same situation but on error message the only thing different is the file - not the same line (48).

The solution is simple;

Right click your Settlers III icon shortcut on your desktop, or in your All Programs Menu and choose "Run as Administrator". If the option does not appear, hold "Shift" and then right click the shortcut, and the "Run as Administrator" option should appear.

The error happens beacuse the game is trying to gain access to the registry so it can input the Serial for your game.
