Hi. I just had to reinstall my operating system, which meant reinstalling all of my software. Before the reinstall, everything worked great. Now however, I am having multiple problems. First off, the game gave me an error when I tried to update it after installing. Here is the error.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying to get update information to C:\Users\Rich\AppData\Local\Temp\ubi2E44.tmp.
Failed to download the update information.
Fatal download error: 22
Update service cannot continue.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Next, the game will no longer take my CD-Key. I have tried typing it in with caps lock on, caps lock off, with dashes and without dashes. It simply will not take it. It just keeps saying that it is incorrect, even when I am positive it is correct. This is from the full retail box version, not some OEM off of Ebay.. Next up, I got an error about some security driver that wouldn't run and I had to download a new version from the Tages website and install it. This is highly annoying. It's not bad enough that I can't play a game I spend about $40 on, but I can't even get to ask a tech support question because every time I try and log ontto the site to ask, it gives me a generic error screen... Now I am running a custom built system with the following specs..

Motherboard: MSI 790FX-GD70
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955, Black Box Edition
Memory: 8GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC1333 SDRAM
Video Card: XFX ATI Radeon 4870x2 (dual core), PCIE 2GB
Sound: Creative Labs X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro series sound card
PSU 1000W Kingwin Modular Supply
Storage: 7x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB SATA II Drives
Optical: LG Blue Ray /; DVD-RW (SATA II)
Antec 1200 Full Tower Case
LG Flatron W2361V LCD Monitor

I think the system can handle the game.

I AM running Windows 7 RC, but before some Tech Support guy tries to use it as an excuse for this games bugs.. It should be noted that the game performed flawlessly for months before I had to reinstall so it is NOT the OS or DirectX. I have a feeling it's related to the draconian copy protection that Ubi in all of it's non wisdom decided to stick us with.

I paid my coin, now I want my game working without excuses. I have been building PCs, designing networks and providing tech support since the late 1980s, so I am NOT a neophyte. Fix it...

What draconian copy protection? just manually download and install patch 1.71, and that removes the DRM completely.

And as far as bugs go, you state quite clearly that the game previously worked, in your own words "flawlessly" until you re-installed it, so what has changed on your system since then?

The Patch will not install. It gets about half way then says it encountered an error, but it just refers me to tech support and no details. Nothing has changed on the system since I reinstalled the OS. The only reason I reinstalled was because a bad add on, trashed my Firefox and it messed up the TCP/IP stack. I wasn't aware that the DRM gets removed by the patch, but since it won't run, it really doesn't matter. And yes, I tried making sure it runs as administrator, and even tried compatibility mode. I am going to try an uninstall and fresh reinstall. I'll manually zap any remaining registry keys and make sure it's completely cleaned up. I still can't figure out what the deal with my keycode is though. It worked fine when I installed it before, I AM typing it in correctly.. Oh well, let's see what the reinstall does.
