Hi,

I was reading through this topic because my mom wants to play the settlers 3 again on xp (original version) but it has some bugs and errors.
And than i came across the last few msgs.

One from archmage2009 who is having some trouble.. and the reaction that he gets, kind of ****es me off. Because there is no such thing
as symptoms of piracy. I have a lot of downloaded cracked games that i can play without any problems, offcourse there are some downloads
that doesnt work, and offcourse i get errors sometimes but when i google its always something that people who actually bought the game
came across to. I bet you that if i download a good cracked version of settlers 3 i dont get errors because it is a copy, it might even
work better than the bought version with all the bugs and extra patches from all over the net, cause its all in one pack. A good cracker
allways gets around the sercurity especially if its a game from years ago. I dont know how to say this without sounding rude but your not
really a good moderator if you dont know what your talking about and if you act that way to people when they ask you for help. My mom
has the same bugs with her settlers 3.. know your games. the website doesnt only say it could be because its a pirated copy it also say's
it could be a virus. it also says to download S3102123.exe wich is nog on the website anymore.
I hope i wansnt to rude.. i was just speaking my mind.

You raise an issue over a 6 month old post, and question a moderators reply, while at the same time, admitting to playing pirated games on a game publishers forums, do you have some kind of forum death wish? Roll Eyes

Regardless of the individual circumstances of this particular case, I can think of quite a few error messages and game problems with some games, that are well known signs of a pirated game, a no CD crack, or a trainer, so to say
quote:
"there is no such thing as symptoms of piracy"
is not strictly correct. Wink

So unless you wish to dig yourself deeper into that hole you're in, I suggest you drop all further talk of using cracked games. Indifferent

Hi GekkeSusie Smile

You raise a few points there and although it's not really my place id like to address some of them.

Publishers have been putting in flaws to their games via their copy protection that will immediately flag it up as being a possible pirated copy, thats not to say that they will immediately brand all glitches as pirates but it gives them a good start as to what questions to ask.

Please do not come in here and have a go at any moderator, they know more about the games than you know - having played them for years - they are here in their own free time, not getting paid for their great work and do it to support the community. They are here to moderate the forums and offer assistance when and if required - the forums are for game discussion between members and are not an official support area.

It really annoys me when people like you go on about how highly priced the games are. You have openly admitted to downloading cracked games and it is partly because of pirates and those who play pirated games that have caused the game prices to rise - on that not PC games and especially those from UBI are pretty fairly priced, so a cost factor to try and justify piracy is ridiculous - even if you want to try out a game before purchase, that is what they make demo games for.

You said the person in question was accused of something that he might know nothing about - i see no accusations in the reply which started
quote:
Hmm usually normal behaviour with a pirated copy

that was not an accusation - rather a possible explanation of what the problem could be.

I dont think anyone hates you but it may be a wise decision to think about what you are gonna say and read what you are arguing about beforehand - especially on official game forums and where the moderators and Community managers have a lot of respect for the work they do Smile

Im not talking about the prices today, im talking about the prices from before internet excisted and a little after that. And im not justifying anything.. i know that what im did is wrong. I didnt say anything about the prices of ubi.. i have all the settlers i wanted original here. I dont even have time to play a game these days so dont worry im not downloading games anymore.

CSI: Deadly intent: $29.95 on the ubisoft store.(pretty fair)
overhere 29.99 euros wich is around 43 dollars. before the euro came around it would be half the price. every single company abused the situation when the euro came around.. prices went up.. salary's stayed the same.

never said i did.

and after that person told the mod that it was original the mod had to say it again.. not really fair.

Did anyone solve the iron smelted to pigs and sulphur issue ?
I have a genuine copy that I have had for years which I used to play on windows 98. Having recently resurrected my settlers 3 onto XP so i can play again i am having the same problems of pigs or sulphur from iron ore and tree not growing. Also at times I cant make soldiers s the carriers ignore the weapons.
I bought the discs from a reputable dealer years ago.

Haved you patched the game to version 1.6 ?

If not the link for it is here

ftp://ftp.bluebyte.com/updates/

You need the 1.60old

When you install it,go into your main settlers folder and double click the file convertor, not sure if it asks if you want to perform any action if it does ask hit yes or ok
