Hi all,
I have the following problem with The Settlers 2 10th Anniversary edition : I installed the game fine, and when I run it, it starts without any problem. However, when I launch a new game, I cannot see the map at all : where I should see ground, it's all black. The program seems to know what should be displayed, as I can still put buildings and roads, and it shows me where the HQ is. But you'll agree with me, it is not very convenient to play... (see screenshot : http://fixel.l.free.fr/S2_pb.jpg You'll notice it's in french... I am french, don't laugh) I installed all the updates, ran the game with administrator rights, checked the "XP compatible" thing, but nothing works. I play on an ACER Aspire 5610 laptop with Vista (I know, shame...), with a intel centrino duo cpu and an nVidia GEforce G0 7300 graphic chip (I guess it's a chip). Oh, and 1GB of RAM. If any of you had an idea of what to do to fix it, I would be most grateful and you would earn... my acknowledgement (I can't offer more atm). Thank you! |

Hi there! I haven't tried playing the game on vista so I am not sure if this will work, but it has worked for my problems with it on xp, so it might be worth giving it a try.
I assume you have tried playing the game as admin but without "xp compatible"? Have you tried any of the other compatibility modes? Since the game has problems on xp as well. One of the most common graphics problems is with T&L. Installing 3D analyze and running the game from there (with the checkbox "force SW TnL" checked) should solve this. http://www.3dcenter.org/download/3d-analyze Hope this helps! Also, did you test to see if the game worked before the patches? Sometimes they rock the boat a bit too much |

Thank you for your reply Leebeloola
I tried pretty much everything you propose to do. I also tried before the patches, hoping they would fix it. I also used the 3D analyze thing as I saw it on other topics, but again, it didn't change anything. I uninstalled the game eventually, and gave to a friend so that he can try on his PC, but I haven't got any news from him yet. |
