Hi all,

I know this question has come up a million times already, but, what is the answer ...

I have blank bits on the screen so presume it's cos of the intel graphics card prob. Here's my DxDiag info below in case I'm being a muppet.

Question is, how do I fix this? Do I have to get a new card? Is this something I can do myself? How do I know if the card is built in or changeable?

Sorry if they're dumb questions, don't know much about pc's hence original choice of machine.

Only the more expensive gaming laptops have a video slot for a mobile graphics card, one like yours can't be upgraded as the video chip is integrated in the motherboard chipset.

It's a pity you bought the version with the Intel video chip, as the Inspiron 1720 could also be bought with a more suitable mobile version of the Nvidia 8600GS video chip.

In your case, setting all the game graphics options to minimum, and using a very low screen resolution, ie. 800x600, can usually get the 3D portion of the screen to display.
