Hi m8's.

I hope you can help me, because I don't have a clue what's wrong.

I removed it a while ago, but now I want to play it again. But I can't even install it. When I press on the install button nothing happens. Even when I open the setup file nothing happens.

I've got the original settlersIII cd. And my pc works on XP.

Hope you guys can help me.

I tried it a million times, but the setup just won't start.
Perhaps the solution is formating my computer again.

I have the same problem - and it seems to be one that's cropped up a lot around here. Does anyone know where the siedler file can be obtained?? Is it just a problem that occurs when trying to run S3 on XP??
Smash

ETA: The file we're missing is sielder3_21.f8007e01f.dat if anyone's got it...any help would be much appreciated!

Have you tried to create a new Windows XP account? Maybe it's user-bound...can't hurt to try i'd say..or else a new window installation Frown

I've already got an acount but reinstalling windows might be a good idea thanks! Typing
Smile
Although I don't think it is anything to do with windows. I have looked under bluebyte in windows explorer and have found I have all those files of the same type type exept the one I am looking for. Could you tell me where to find a more updated patch than the Xp one I would be very happy. Thumbs Up

Braincraft perhaps you should try the XP patch!! Also before you try this look at your GFX files in bluebyte on your main memory card's program files. whisper (Oh and by the way you WON'T find it on the official site!)Once you've tried tell me how you got on.

There is only 1 official patch for S3 thats the 1.60old,failing however to have this wouldnt give you the problems your encountering installing,as you cant patch the game until its installed anyway. In 5 years I have never heard of this problem before,so its the blind leading the blind on this one, also I have done a search on my pc and I dont have the file your missing, yet have 2 copies of S3 on here.

A very very long short here but just a thought,is S3 on your C drive with your OS,yes s3 will work on any,but it may be worth a try,as S4 prefers to be with the OS,and can cause problems if moved to another drive.Maybe worth trying, but make sure you remove all settlers3 and siedler3 files before you reinstall it.

I searched on the internet for a solution. And it seems that many people have this problem, but nobody found a solution yet.

Perhaps the solution is formating my pc. If it works I'll let you guys know. Wink

I have this same problem...

I was able to kind of fix it, I installed it on another computer and copied the files across Smile

If someone else in your family has a computer see if you can install it on that and copy it across over the network. Worked for me Smile

But apart from that, no I have idea how to fix it on your if someone finds out how please tell me as well...

I have this same problem. I have a fairly new machine, bought just before Christmas, and I'm running XP. I have the Settlers 3 Gold Edition, which claims to run on XP, and my machine more than meets the requirements.

I can't seem to make it install. No matter what I do, as soon as I press the "install" button, nothing happens at all. There is nothing wrong with the game discs themselves, I installed it on my mother's old laptop to try copying the files, as mentioned above, which also didn't help me any, and that machine also runs XP, though it's older than mine. I can't play on it, though, as the fans can't handle games.

But I cannot seem to get it installed on my machine, no matter what I try. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

ETA: Never mind. I figured out a way involving copying of files from mother's laptop and applying patches selectively. (Read: I have no idea what I did. But it works.)

I had trouble installing Settlers IV on XP and someone suggested closing all open programs and processes not in use in Task Manager and the installing and that worked for IV. I've been having this problem with III aswell so thought I'd give the IV solution a try and it worked! If that doesnt work try booting Windows in Safe Mode and installing then before re-booting.

Hope that helps some people Smile
