I'm back again, this time with a new router. Currently I can't host games and I can't see chat in the lobby. I've done everything on the list but still not working. Please give me any pointers, i'm mainly interested in seeing chat at the moment as it's so lonely without it! ;-) I'm on an O2 white router now, let me know any more information you want.
Cheers, LG |

I'm sure Ian will be able to help but while you wait for a reply...
Have you configured your computer to use a static I.P? It's all very well pointing ports to ips but unless your ip is the same each time you won't be able to connect. Also, disable UPnp - it can interfere with manual port forwarding rules. Finally just out of interest, why are you using the stock BT white home hub? It's not really a very well designed router, consider a Netgear or my favourites - Linksys. I've upgraded customers from the white home hub to various other routers and almost everybody has seen both more stable connections and sometimes a hike in speed too. Just FYI |

Hi LG.
What Netgeezer said. It is possible on a BT HomeHub (Is that the O2 white router?), as General Spankey has done it. But in essence, it's the same as any other router, except with limited funcitionality. Forward the correct ports to your local IP address.. (192.168.xxx.xxx) most probably. It's best if you set a static IP address for your PC as it can change due to the routers DHCP Service. Turn Windows Firewall off (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (XP)/Windows Firewall (Vista). Disable uPnP Disable any local Firewalls (Such as Norton or McAfee...) And then realistically you should be good to go. I'm off to Switzerland now on a boarding holiday with the boys. Good luck and see you when I'm back on 1st March |

Thanks for the replies. I've set a static IP now which I had forgot to do after upgrading my PC.
I'm on O2 broadband and they sent me this router which I'm told is a thompson 585 speedtouch, it does seem to be a bit crap as it doesn't forward ports properly! I've done everything mentioned now, should I restart my router for any settings to take effect and then enter all the ports again? I probably will do that later. Cheers again, I will let you know if it worked next time I have time to play lol I always wonder why I can join games though but not do the other stuff like hosting.. LG P.S enjoy the holiday Ian! |

LG, port settings affect:
Joining lobby Seeing chat Joining games Hosting games Once the settings are correct you won't have a problem, trust me... I'm a nutty professor. |

I already posted in another old thread, but i realize that this probably is the thread i'm looking for.
I've just bought Settlers III Gold edition and i am unable to install it on my new vista laptop. When i insert the disc autorun goes on, setup runs, i click "Install: New/Change", i get prompted whether i want to allow the program to run, which i do. It then seems to load for about 10 seconds, and then nothing more happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, manne |

mgerell's problem is now sorted.
After talking some on MSN, we disabled his antivirus and installed S3 Gold in the correct way; Insert disk and install S3 Gold (Without Video Codecs) Copy Across S3.exe from the first post in this thread to overwrite the original S3.exe in the \BlueByte directory. Run FileConvert.exe in the \BlueByte directory Run game as admin to install serial key in to registry. |

Come on LG, get this sorted son......
One thing to maybe try is to connect via dial up if your PC has an old fashioned modem in it? If S3 works through that then you can rules out any anti-virus / firewall stuff on your PC and blame it definetly on your router. I had a wee look on BT Home Hub router settings and am thinking your set up page should look something like this |

With thanks to Flett I can now join games AND host games in the lobby. I still can't see chat in the lobby. The ports are certainly forwarded properly though now.
Thanks for help. |

Hi
Two days ago I played with my colleague on the LAN (S3 Gold Edition) on a very large map with eight computer players. We not finished the game then so be saved. Today we wanted to load the game but we had a problem after loading save. The game was frozen and nothing happens. We do not get messages about desinchronization. What may be a problem? Sorry if I writes in the wrong topic. |
||||
|
It sounds like the save did write correctly on either your or your colleagus computer.
Thread updated. |

Thanks for the iso, I'll be able to use my own cd key now
|
||||
|
The ISO upload is purely for the Amazons add-on (Suggestive of the user using the Orange CD's).
It will not work with the Gold Edition as this already has QOTA built in. You're welcome |
