I have done everything here....also went out and bought a direct to drive version in hopes of circumventing the issue. Guess what? Same authentication process. Everything from being forcibly diconnected., to being told I have an invalid CD-Key. The actual DVD itself spins up sounds like it is trying to kill my drive then fails and asks for the Original DVD, this in on 6 different Drives. Yes 6, everything from brand spanking new to ancient. It is not working some 70USD later. I have had enough.

Its mind numbing people are not pouncing on this issue.

Whats more this game didnt exactly just hit the shelves either.

Mad

It's amazing how many people seem to do just that megg, on just about every game publisher's forums.
I've seen 1 post wonders all over the place, making the same kind of post, about every game style.

After trying everything mentioned in this thread and still haveing the same problemn i have to ask.
Why has the company not bothered to patch this problemn yet. i still have an unusable product, that i am not able to return. You dont want people to use your products in a system with a burner, fine. But tell us on the packageing so we wont waste our time and money on it.

It does say on the packaging that it "Contains technology intended to prevent copying that may conflict with some DVD-RW and virtual drives", take a look at the back of the case and see for yourself Indifferent

Conflict and just wont work are two different things. if i need a different type of software, fine point me to it. my firmware is updated. the drive is a standard oem. new but basic. if the software cant run on basic out of the box equipment, then the company needs to do something about it.

Post a full dxdiag, and it might help spot the problem.

Trust me, Ubisoft don't give a ****. I spent days going back and forth with them on their so-called support. I did everything they asked and still nothing worked. After exhausting all the avenues they suggested (including purchasing new hardware) the help abruptly ended. Refunds by the way are "Not their policy."

In the end this episode will only end in mistrust of the publishing label. I for one cannot see myself picking up another Ubisoft title. Would you part with up to $50 knowing the last time you did cost you days of frustration ?

Coonasswelder you have a private.

Hi all

I've been playing the game fine(ish) for weeks now. Just finished a game, exited, came back to it an hour later and now I have the message Please Insert Original blah blah. I've been playing it for weeks on this machine so why should it suddenly stop now? Any other suggestions apart from all the others that have been posted in this thread?

Ken.

P.S. Forgot to mention that I didn't even take the disk out of the drive, just started the game up again.

Hello guys

I've been having trouble starting the game too. I've tried the tips about downloading the patch (didnt work) and also downloading the SPTD (which seems to have worked).

But now it says my key code isnt correct and it mess up.

Please, could you help me trying to find out what i could do?
Or at least helping me finding the email of any Ubisoft Tech Support?
Seem you can only contact them by phone.

:/

Thanks!

please try the following steps to see if this helps the game

Reinstall the game and launch the update 1.2 manually (http://patches.ubi.com/settlers_6/settlers_6_v1.2.exe)
Then go into the folder THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire\base\bin\
Open/edit the file s6patch.ini

Save and exit the file.
Launch and allow the game to update automatically..
Run online activation

I'm having the same problem - Please Insert Orginial Disc (I'd like to insert something else, but let's not go there just now!).

Anyway, while trying to "fix" the patch .ini file, I get blocked. It claims that the path does not exist, or some **** like that. Yeah, right, that's like saying the earth beneath my feet doesn't exist. For all the hoopla that these new age systems receive, they sure are moronic most of the time.

Anyway, just in case there's not a short between the keyboard and the user, what am I doing wrong here (Vista 32-bit OS)?

It is sad when you have to crack a game that you have bought.

I logged an official support call with UBI soft and they ignored it, they just keep asking me to upload my dxdiag file (I have done this 3 times).

I will never buy a game from UBI soft again.

Edited: Please don't post links to Crack sites!
