I played the last title, i really enjoy these city building games per se, they are different. It is nice to play something else besides an FPS or an MMO, i travel alot so i enjoy taking such an game with me to pass the time, yeah it sounds bad but i cant wait to see and what the next title will be like.

If i may make some suggestions, perhaps allowing an naval force, even warfs for trading with other areas and such. I also always thought that the maps simply weren't long enough. But that is my opinion, this isn't to bash anyone as i love the game.

Cheers,

Acidrain

Settlers fan 1-4, and 6. What i would like to see in S7..... I love to start with virtually nothing in your storehouse, for me the thrill of settlers is to build build build then go out and kick some a*s!! I also enjoyed the earlier settlers military promotion methods. The final levels of The Eastern Realm touched on the importance of trading to develop your settlement. I like that. I don't like very big armies much prefer smaller mobile units, spies etc.

I have to say, I've enjoyed every one of the setterls series, except number 5, because I haven't played that one, but I intend to. Aside from the sttlers anomaly, I have enjoyed every single game in the series. There's nothing quite like building a community from scratch. I've nothing negative to say about the series at all.

So natch, I'm looking forward to this one! Big Grin

Hi olari99 Smile
From what I can make out it is a return to old values whilst keeping it a modern game.
From screens and the video it looks to go back to the cartoon style that we all fell in love with Smile

If you do cut down those trees remember and build a forester so that the ozone layer will be ok Big Grin

I have just seen the advertisement for Settlers 7 and it looks really good I only hope that they have listened to the public and me and make it so it is savaeable in multi player so people who play together can pick up where they left off. Don`t always have hours nad hours to play against my friends which makes previous games not attractive to us. To be able topick up where we left off instead of sticking to short camapaigns would be brilliant.
Shal have to wait and see the advert seems to promote multiplayer gaming which would be fantastic. Look forward to it.

I've just seen the advert for the Settlers 7 game and I can't wait! I loved 4, played it a lot, but suffered from horrible lag. 5 never appealed to me, but 7 seems to be going back towards the old style a bit, which I think is awesome.

Am I correct in assuming, based on the teaser video, that this is mostly a multi-player game, and is focused on multiplayer, which may result in a poor single player experience?

@wizaerd69: while it is possible they were promoting it as a multiplayer game, all three people used a different one of the three play styles so it could also be just to show off the diversity of choice when playing.

Great News.
I am a fan of economy/city builder games was some sort of reference for me because of it's uniqueness. one thing i enjoy about this type of games is being able to manage different production chains, with tons of trade goods/raw materials, and various levels of refining/manufacturing , and cope that with your population needs. and i would love to see more economy depth in the future series. i know it can sound a bit to ANNOish (which is also Blue Byte,Ubisoft), but i see Settlers as the perfect game for these premises. you start of with a tiny warehouse and you keep expanding your settlement, housing more people, meeting their growing needs and keeping your balance in the green :P
