I'm thinking "workshop" may be the closest single word in English (though it is not right for a coal mine).

Thanks for answering my questions :-)

Perhaps you guys and girls are interested in this (Click the links to see the info):

Interview with BBMagic It's in German, but for those of you who don't understand that language it's still an interesting video because it also features a few new S7 images:

@ 0.55 sec -> City Building + Worker
@ 3.38 min -> Village Buildings + Farmer, Trade Building + Merchant
@ 4.09 min -> Monks, Military, Merchants (3 ranks each)
@ 4.41 min -> Animation with canon (too cute!)
@ 5.32 min -> Event sector where the player receives quests

With the Nvidia Geforce 8800GT you should be able to run the game with full details at 20 fps. Minimum requirement possibly a Nvidia GeForce 6800 graphics card.

Hy i am a long time fan of the settlers series played settlers 2, 3, 4, 5 en 6. Settlers 3 was my all time favorite. But when i saw S5: What the hell where they thinking. In my eyes seeing the goods being carried by the settlers is what makes this series unique.

Settlers 6 was a step in the right direction, it was nice creating a large town but eventually everything was about the same. Every game started to play the same way. Or it was a bit to easy took the fun out of planning your empire.

Now probably settlers 7 will resemble 6 a lot more than 2,3 and 4. Personally that's a shame. But some things i liked to be changed in S7

- The prime joy of attacking the enemy in S3 was to claim the resources that were dropped by the collapsing buildings, so much fun in destroying the nexus of the enemies heavy industrie and then claiming the resources. So when conquering territories there has to be a direct benefit.

- Also this system where the map is devided by sectors removes the ability to plan your own hub of defences, I am not a huge fan of it. I had much fun making impenetrable hubs of towers and castles to block passages. Atleast put more kinds of buildable towers and castles so the defence has more options except walls and make the sectors a bit smaller.

- The production chains are very often to simple, the raw material gets maid directly into the finished product. I like to see a bit more complication in this. (Windmills, sawmills, ironsmelters, weavers,...) This will also create specialised districts.

- dedicated transport and building settlers

- no more being forced to use your hero for trade.

- SHIPS

- Mines, i want to see the geologist again, that you can build your own mines again.

Maybe the problem is that S6 was too streamlined which made it a bit too easy. In some cases this was an improvement but took some options away.

Cmon guys, this game with your things are getting too old.Other players who want something good in rts, they are waiting for a declare war, battle for europe or something like that.Players are waiting bigger citys, with more decorativ things, like you can decorate even walls.Ingame start you can chose your knight what you can build up yourself", players are waiting for new building category systems like city buildings, village buildings(Farms, woodcuttershut so with 1 word cather huts), you should can build jails and places where you can hang up ppls.Crime what is realistic, then courthhouse if it was somekind of other word then press "right word".Players are waiting that you can chose free play mode where you can chose your city place, then you go out of map and it loads an other map, before you goto other player area you need to make him as ally or declare war.In singleplayer mode, there should be military population 5000 max and city population 3500 max.Thats what players waiting for who want to smell good games.

Will be interesting to see what they give as settlers 7. Although if it is like 5 and 6 i again wont buy a age of empires clone. If its unique then it will be well worth the look.

+1 ! Settlers 2 and Settlers 2 next gen was the reference. With Settlers 3 and 4, community was divised. With Settlers 5 and 6, we saw an ovni and as you say, this two titles are as a age of empires clone Frown ... Imagine Settlers 2 next gen with graphics of Settlers 7 and people (settlers) of Settlers 6 (realist), and when you click on an ennemy tower, you have not choice for 1, 2, 3 soldiers... but 1, 2, 3 regiments ! And with impressiv battles as in TOTAL WAR ! Buildings burns as in Settlers 2, unlimited settlers, and many options gamers could activate as possibility to control and insert flag on roads or not, automatic control of roads or not, automatic control of army or not, map on screen or not etc... A settlers title where the gamer have free choice how he want play with options and functions it wants to see or not on the screen Red FaceD A dream ?

From this description I understand thay you want a settlers that is copy of stronghold 2,I you want this play stronghold 2, but I want settlers 7 to be settlers with its unique gameplay, not a copy of another game(yes, it is a good game, but it is not settlers and settlers its a great game). Angry

Game developers often have this difficulty, especially when working on a sequel that fits - or nearly fits - a popular genre (such as city/empire building). When there's a game with a slightly different formula but with much better sales, it's very difficult to not try and change your own game to be more like the other. I think this has happened in the past with Settlers games, and not knowing the sales figures I can't say how well it's worked out... but clearly there's a danger that the fans of (say) Age of Empires or Total War will just keep on buying those games, and Settlers fans will be disappointed too. I don't know what to suggest other than horribly clichéd "believe in yourself" kind of stuff - make your own game, and do it well.

I make my own game and i gona steal strongholds engines.Stronghold 2 has a greate engine but its alitle bit too hard game, i played it once, i playd it 10 minutes and i was dead.I lose my food and enemys will destroy my walls.The settlers had best wall system and humans engineXd.But that need alitle bit more things, like i sayd military population 5000 in single player and 1000 in multiplayer, to get military polulation you need to make bigger your barrackses and that castle.For city human population there you need much houses where they can live, i dont think that anyone want to live in church.Like i sayd 3500 human population even in multiplayer.Ou, 1 thing more, in multiplayer you please shut down that serial system, i played 1h and then came 1 idiot who have stolen my serial and played (with serial i mean cd-keyXd)

for some1 to of stole your CD key you must either be playing a pirate copy, have bought the game from a store that steals CD-keys out of boxes before selling them, or you have gave the CD-key to a friend or posted it somewhere other people have got it.

as for your limit's you want I'm sick of telling you no PC can run that many people in one go, just about all CPU*'s would strugle with the AI pathing before taking into account the GPU having to keep track of all graphics for the people and keeping them in line with the AI.

to get high populations like that you would have to take all the humans out of the cities and have population nothing more than a number in the top corner. as for the military the graphics and AI would have to be heavily scaled back making it larger groups of stupider AI looking less impressive than a couple of hundred men having a real fight.

I really dont see the fascination in having armies with 1000s of soldiers in them.

Playing Settlers4 it wasnt unusual for 4 players to each have close on 2000 soldiers ready to battle,once someone attacked the player themselves just had to sit back and let the soldiers do as they liked,you just didnt have any control over them at all,the lag was horrendous,everything was in slow motion,I have to agree what Caswallawn said there is no pc out there for commercial use that can possibly,cope with so much happening.

Smaller armies and strategy are the key to playing this type of game.
