magic my only question is with this game will it be possible to play and win without actually having to use the military side for anything more than a bit defence?

Hi Penny!

This question has been answered on the German board. There won't be a S3 or S4 remake. Sorry to bring you bad news Wink

But so far it sounds like S7 has more depth than S6, so hopefully we will all love S7 like we did the older games.

You will always need a bit of military to conquer a few adjacent sectors (to gather resources etc.) and then to be able to defend yourself. And you can make your defense more effective with non-military things.

So the answer to your question is YES.

I have said it elsewhere: I think you will like the core gameplay of Settlers 7 if you liked the traditional Settlers games.

Hi ms-kleaneasy

It could be very very cool for Fan of Settlers 1/2/2 10th anniversary if you could add an option in your futur Settlers 7, for gamers want activate it (its just an option !!) ; possibility to control all roads with flags as in settlers 2. People dont want this option ; they will not activate it ! What do you think ? It could be an solution to satisfy the whole community, those who want automatic roads and those who want automatic control. This led to an idea that offer plenty of options for what you want control or not, of roads, menu still there or not, the map or not, etc. .. etc. ...Do not impose features, but offer the players to enable or disable options / display them or not features on screen etc...

Maps, i want them more bigger, then you need camp more and you can build much bigger citys, you can make outposts, if they are made then you can add it to your city land and then you can destroy outpost.

Sadly, I don't think the old road system with flags and carriers will be implemented. It is a lot of programming work to introduce something like that, and the developers are aware that most players don't want that much control over exactly where the roads go. They will probably offer a solution somewhere in between full control and automatic roads - allowing you to lay out paths or roads if you want to, but otherwise letting settlers find their own way and letting the paths appear naturally.

As for the large maps... I started making a full-size map in S6 and frankly it was bigger than I wanted. Probably there's no need for bigger maps than that in S7... unless the cities need a lot more territory to support them.

So... is there any more info BB/Ubisoft can give us?

I'm most interested in seeing the range of buildings that'll be available, and the resources that the settlers will use. I'd also love to hear something about how the engine is going to run - will there be day/night cycles, or seasonal graphics as in S6?

(My biggest hope/fear is that there will/will not be a game speed control. This more than anything allows the player to control the sort of game they want to play.)

Unless they are gathering resources, Settlers will always walk on roads. Actually, the system is not that different from the system with the flags in Settlers 7, just that there are not flags, but storehouses.

There are five different base buildings in which Settlers live, and to each of these you can add workyards (e.g. a bakery, a woodcutter's hut, etc.). You can attach five to six different workyards to the base buildings. Then there are special buildings like the storehouse, the constructor's hut, the barracks, the church, etc. You do the math...

There will not be any day/night cycles, but there are different weather conditions / seasons.

Sorry about my english. BBMagic, thank for all your answers.
Storehouses will replace flags ! it is really great. How many Storehouses we shall build between two towns. And is there anybody who can say me, what does it mean "workyards" (places of work?)

To build enough storehouses in the right places is crucial for a good economy.

A workyard is our current word for the places where the settlers work. The name is not perfect. A few further examples:
- goldsmith
- iron smelt
- coal mine
- fishermen's hut
- coking plant
- butcher
