I just got the game and want to update right away ofcourse. I tried 1.6 and after it installed, I went to fire game and it said could not locate dvd rom. I uninstalled and tried patch 1.5 same result, did this with each patch and same result. Game runs fine when not patched, would just like to have updated game. Not a huge issue but if there is an easy fix I do not know about please let me know.

If you could give a few more details it might help.

Is your game the retail disc version, or is it a Digital download version? and do you have any imaging/copying software installed, such as Daemon Tools, Magic ISO, Alcohol etc. as the presence of virtual drives can conflict with the protection system used in the game, as can using third party "No CD" cracks, when you install the patches, it may cause the game to ask for the disc to be inserted in the drive.

It is the retail version. I believe I do not have any of the software you mentioned since I have never heard of any of it. Also I am in Canada if that makes a difference with my disc or game version.

I got around to installing game on other computer and the exact same thing happens with the patches. Any ideas?

It could simply be a conflict between the copy protection, and the firmware version of the drive, or it may be that you need an update to some Windows file, which version of Windows do you run? as one member with the same problem, found this hotfix from Microsoft worked for him:

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Using windows xp SP3. I tried the link and got the same results.
