Hello all,

I just loaded Myst V on my machine last night and I am not sure if it is something I am not doing right or if there is a glitch in the game. I checked out the forum and so far didn't come across this problem before. Anyway, when I get down to the bottom of the great shaft, I figured out that the buttons in the room on each side of the shaft activated a timing mechanism. So I push one, then run to the other, finally I run to the middle and try to push the button in the center. For the most part nothing happens. But one time I manically clicked around the area where the center buttons is and for a second, the button jumped up and glowed red, then it settled back down and the platform actived. I rode the floor up and then proceeded to turn on the fan in the room that is now accessible. I knew at this point I had to get down and try to get below the floor. So I pushed the button in the center again and the floor lowered. One again I activated the floor counting sequence by pressing the blue button, then going over to the yellow button and finally reaching the button on the middle of the floor. This time randomly clicking did not help. I tried frantically 5 times resetting the blue and yellow counting buttons to no avail. I think this probably is a glitch with the game, but surprisingly I have not seen it reported here. As for my requirements, my computer surpasses them in every way. I have the correct direct X loaded and my drivers are updated. So I am curious if anyone else has had this problem and what they did to correct it.

Thank You,

JG

I noted the first time I played through that the button in the center of the Shaft was a bit touchy at times, but didn't mention it because upon returning to the area later the button was behaving fine. I would suggest launching the game again and seeing if it's still not working correctly.

Hello Alahmnat,

Yes, you are correct. Last night I tried the game again, and this time had no problems. There must be something when you either first the game right after installation. A reboot of the computer and restarting the game did the trick. Now activating the two timers, clearly raises the center portion of the button on the middle of the floor and I can easily click on it and continue with the game.

Thank You,

JG

Odd, I am having a similar problem.

In my setup, the "button" is actually above where it should be.

What I did is as the two counters were counting down, I moved the hand around and saw it change to the "action" one and so I just clicked it and got the responce.
