hey guys
i wasn't sure if i would like this game or not so i decided to play the demo. i have gotten no where with it. i made it rain once but since then i can't repeat it. i got the symbols i needed when it rained but i don't know what to do with them. i have tried everything...i also drew a symbol that got me stuck somewhere where the door wouldn't open and 2 symbols that i have drawn have not let me pick the slate back up...what do i do? |

hi patterpaws,
Haven't played the demo, so not sure if everything is accesible to you. Since you made it rain, i guess you are in Noloben. Have you explored everywhere? In particular, have you found a way to get up the cliff? ... |

Hi patterpaws:
I downloaded the demo to check it out just for you! Anyway, first thing that happened to me is Esher started talking to me but he wasn't there! The screen bobbed around like he was in front of me, but he wasn't. It was odd. Anyway, when I linked to Noloben I was surprised to find it exactly like it is in the game (in Myst IV the demo was different!). He did say you can draw "anything" on the slate but the bahro will recognize some. My question to you then, is what were you attempting to draw? Unless you had a reference (like the rain symbol) then I don't suggest drawing anything until you figure out what and when to draw stuff. As far as the symbols you got after it rained, if you go down the beach to the other side of the linking bubble you should notice a rope coming down off the cliff. You might want to go give it a tug and see what happens. I also didn't stay around long enough to check it out, but near the rain dais thingy (to the right if you're facing it), along the rock wall should be an entrance. I have to admit it seemed pretty obtuse to me that they didn't give any instructions on what do do next in the demo. Even I, having finished the game, was left standing there feeling "what am I supposed to do next?" cuz I didn't expect the demo to play out like the full-blown game. _____________ Bula, Bula, Bula! Hi BulaRae-
Since you got the demo loaded up as well as the full game perhaps you could answer a question for me. I've heard the Demo has music in it that the regular game doesn't have. Is this true? If it is, I may just download it myself to extract he music scores for the sake of a complete soundtrack CD... Thanks! |

No music, Poutrew.
And just cuz I was dying of curiosity I went back to see how far the demo would go. I went up top to open the walls, leaving the slate at the bottom of the ladder. I fiddled with the symbols again and for some reason just couldn't make it happen this time, got frustrated and returned to the beach and found my slate gone. Not at the bubble. I walked around and looked for it. No luck. I linked back to Direbo. No luck. My conclusion: The demo sucks!! I'd say just get the game ( and get the LE with the game guide and the soundtrack) and just play it. And I'm sure I'm not supposed to say this but you can then re-sell it on Amazon or Ebay like I did cuz it wasn't a "keeper" for me like the others. _____________ Bula, Bula, Bula! poutrew, you may be thinking of the trailer. I believe the first one had different music.
Bula, are you using the Mac version? On my PC it plays perfectly and just as in the game. No music tho', as you said, though I can't remember there being any in that age of the game itself. |
