I have read the exististing posts on this subject as I have experienced the 'do not quite' on pedistal 2 in this age and have restarted the age. I now have tried your sugestions from previous posts but alas... the right lever will not pop back up.

I know that another user ended up starting the game again.... any other sugestions? (I am a Mac Power PC 10.4.6)

When this puzzle gives problems, the best way I know would be for you to show us a step by step small walkthrough of what you did up to this "bug". Most of the time, a good spoiler will fix it but we need very precise infos like...

What kind of computer, RAM...

1- wind symbol
2- activated left big lever
3- ...
4- ...
and so on up to the problem

Let's start with what I have..... PowerPC G4 1.5Ghz 1Gb Ram running OS X 10.4.6....

Yes, that was the post I saw earier and my problem is as described by Bildy47 (exactly as).... since your reply I have tried again but to no avail.
I have compleated all other ages sucessfully with no problems up until I quit while on the second pedistal in Laki'ahn. (I now know that is a problem))

Started the age again, saw Esher, found wind symbol.
1- pulled left big lever
2- pulled small left (center lever) and waited until lever returned
3- pushed left red button
4- pulled small right lever abut there was no return
5- push red left button - nothing

No joy on the cage turn.

What I am going to do is start new player go straight to laki'ahn and see if the problem persists on the thrid go... if no problem, I'll come back to first player and see if things have changeds for the greater good.

I'll let you know how I go.

p.s. when you pull the small right lever, do you wait long enough fot it to go back before pushing the red button ???


In some games if you have a problem, very often it will fix itself if you quit the game and come back. You seem to have a good save. Next time make a new one just b4 drawing the wind symbol and a second one with the slate + the wind symbol but b4 droping it on the ground. If you still have a problem, go and see Heimdall G at the Myst 5 technical support and give him a link to your first post over here.

Somehow we will find a solution. In the mean time I will do a search to see if somebody else had the same problem.

One other interesting thing I forgot to mention,... there was a point before the cage issue when I left the bubble and the moon/sun equlipse (SP??) was continuous. I then went back to the bubble moved through the intro age for a while, came back in order to correct the twilight pattern (as it makes it hard to see in a wind storm)

In answer to your question, yes, after seeing your previous instructions I do wait and make sure the lever have poped back. Another intertesting thing is in the eternal twilight, the buttons are grey.

I have just tested the cage turn in player two and all is A OK. I came back into Laki'ahn as Player 1 and discovered the eternal twilight and (surprise, surprise) no cage turn.

I am off to now get me out of eternal twilight before proceding.

The good news is that you are able to play, Either you have a corrupted file or a video card problem,

You forgot to mention the type of video card so I will give you this next link in case you have not seen it...

In general terms it says to try to set everything at minimum in the settings of the game window.

Even if you can go on playing, you should ask Heimdall G at tech help. It would be helpfull for futur players.


P.S. Somebody with a lot of experience is supposed to be coming to your rescue very soon.

I have ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with 128 MB vram....

Tried the suggestions in the link but I still have eternal twilight and a cage that will not rotate. Will post with tech help after trying one more option.

Hi all, Nanouk asked me to take a look at your issue cuz I use a Mac also, however I don't have Myst V anymore so I can't check out what the deal with the cage might be. I do know there are some glitches with save file and such and I highly recommend using a different game file (load from the journal) and see if you can get the cage to work.
