My preference would have been for a "right" ending that let you explore Myst Island and all the ages you visited. That's how the good ending of Myst worked.

I've got a whole bunch of game saves and I can visit the ages whenever I want, but I would have liked to have been able to do that as part of the game story.

I loved seeing Myst Island again - broken down and all.

- playing Paradise
- play Until Uru as amarez

Put that down, you are not in a game, this is my life!

I dropped into FPS mode, so I could wander freely, sadly exploring the ruins of what had been. I stopped awhile at Ti'ana's grave to meditate on all the history she had been a part of, and all the adventures we have been on as a result.
Standing inside the rocket ship, listening to the rain pelt the rusted metal hull, I really lost it. This was my first Myst adventure - the first Myst linking spot that transported me to a different Age - now broken and old.
In my life I have had the experience of returning to an old home town, the place where I grew up, seeing everything changed and different - yet undeniably the same place. I have felt like a ghost, wandering, held by memory, yet forever locked away from the past.
How strongly that feeling is with me on Myst Island!

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I went to this ending first after 12 exhaustive hours of play from start to finish (no cheats, no hints; Go me Big Grin) and it was very sad to see Myst Island in such ruin. I went to the bridge to the rocket and lighting struck the power line - I jumped.

But yeah, Myst Island was a far more emotionally satisfying ending than Releeshan.

I'm one of those people who didn't really enjoy Exile or Revalation as they were so different to what Myst and Riven were actually about. I was excited about EoA because of all of the things that Uru had offered and hinted at. I loved playing EoA, but it was dissapointingly short - at least by the standards of the epic Riven - and the "good" ending was a letdown.

I hope the new book goes some way to explaining the Bahro and their initial descovery by Atrus' D'ni - that still remains somewhat of a mystery to me. I hope that there is another game in the pipeline - though I agree that the series should have an ending - so that we see the series go out on a point as fulfilling as Riven was and still is.

Liam.

Something that was pointed out on another forum, which I observed pretty much immediately after finishing the game, was the symbolic closure of the series in the good ending. To actually "win" the game, you have to ignore the Myst Book, leaving it behind. In a way, it's a metaphor for the completion of the series as a whole... it started so long ago on that island, but it's grown far beyond it now, and to move forward, sometimes we have to leave the things we cherish the most behind.

Looking at it that way, I think the "good" ending has a substantial amount of emotion tied to it, perhaps not just in what goes on in the cutscene, but also what you yourself have to do to get there. Seeing Myst broken down and ruined was definitely a powerful experience, but leaving it behind, for me, was even more so.

The user who mentioned that wouldn't have been GreenGannon on GameFAQs, would it?

I like Myst 5. I like Uru. I like Realtime 3D *and* Prerendered graphics. I like game history more than I like RAWA history, and while I think Myst 3/4/5 were great games, I think it would have been best to end on Riven and move to Uru. Any questions?

Nope. It was someone on the Exile forums here at Ubi. Think it was CK9.

Yeah. I think a lot of people picked up on that actually.

Yeah I ended up trying them all as well. I pretty much knew that Escher was not the right person to give it to, but I hadn't considered dropping it in the main hall. I figured that Esher was lying about Yeesha... so I gave it to her...which was of course wrong. Then I thought that well...maybe I was wrong about Escher...NO. So I finally looked for the third option and took a gamble leaving it in the hall...obviously the right ending.
