I finished the first 3 ages and I am in Direbo trying to get to Laki'ahn but the wooden gate on the other side won't open for me to get to the linking bubble. HELP! Is this a bug?

No. You can only get to a new place via the Great Shaft.

Have you raised / lowered the floor in the Great Shaft?

I raised the floor to get to Noloben. After that age, I lowered it back down to try to find the other book. I can't find it. The only thing I can think of is the big gate at the bottom but it won't open.
All the walkthroughs just say cross the wooden bridge to the next age.
I bet I am missing something completely obvious to get to it and my head will recieve a powerful beating. lol

I remember that there are two elevators in the great shaft, and you have to do something with the floor and the fans. There is a route to Laki'ahn at the very bottom somewhere, but I can't remember how to get to it.

I don't have the game installed any more. You'll need someone else's help now. Sorry.

Have you noticed there is a slight delay after you push the red button? A slight delay during which, say, you could move around a little?

This is where I'm at, at the great shaft trying to get off the floor before it's too late. I'm using arrow keys, but can't seem to get going fast enough to reach the outer side, my pointer seems to freeze. I have tried better than five times. Is there a hint to help me? Incendently, I hope I am posting according to 'Hoyle'. I had some admotion about posting. Still not certain how this goes. Thanks guys for your help. (Just want to mention that I am 69 yrs of age, if that tells you anything??) Blush

Hmm... You should have enough time to get off the floor before it begins to rise.

A couple of things you might try:

a) Switch to free-roam mode and use the down arrow to back off the floor. You can also hold the shift key down to "run" if I'm not mistaken.

b) Lower your Myst 5 graphics settings/resolution. If your computer processor is bogged down and is causing you some delay, lowering the settings might speed things up and allow you to get off the floor in time.

Get off the floor while it's moving? I just stay on and enjoy the ride!! Didn't know you have to get off. That's like punching the button on the elevator and getting out to take the stairs!! LOL
